Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Astoria by IHG

Newer, very clean and a great location under the bridge on the waterfront

The oven in the kitchen broke, which made breakfast slow and challenging, but the staff tried to accommodate

This was a surprisingly nice stay. Rare find for a hotel that comfortably fits a family of 5. Great views of River. Kind staff. Pool and hot tub. Games, puzzles, and cards available. Decent breakfast. Good restaurants nearby. Free parking.

Location

Hotel itself was clean and has been updated fairly recently, location is great. The service lacked the welcome factor. There were several machines out of order including 2 of four ice machines, juice dispenser and pancake machine. The breakfast was poorly managed, half the entrees were out, quality and freshness were lacking.

Location was excellent. Newer shower/linens/bed/bath. All very clean

Employee checking us in did not call backup (maybe he was the only one there?) when there were 5 parties waiting to check in. Also he said my WHOLE phone number (instead of the last 4 digits) so everyone waiting could hear it. Luckily no one has used my number.

We liked the pool and hot tub

We didn't like the prefab breakfast, the missing tiles in the pool room, the 6 jets that weren't working in the hot tub, the lack of a smart TV in the room with limited TV channels, the $ 100 damage deposit when we had already prepaid, the lack of towels in the pool room.
