Résidence Pierre & Vacances Chamonix La Rivière

I have read some negative reviews about the staff. With us they were absolutely great! Very helpful. Maybe because it is a posh resort people are expecting more (but dont ask me what!). But this is the cheapest hotel in chamonix, and as someone who regular stays in budget ski accomodation this is a cut amongst the rest. Fantastic value for money, very nice apartment - and more generally, everything you would expect from a hotel in this price range.

Front desk was friendly but did not explain how to get into building (use code,not keys) and what the 2 separate keys are for. Pay parking spaces are tight but was a nice new garage. The unit was very dated and not worth what we paid even for holiday prices. There’s timed light switches in stairways and halls. Bring toilet paper! They only provided enough for 1 day(grocery store close by). Location was central. Didn’t realize there was only mountaineering skiing at Aiguille du Midi in Dec. Luckily able to ski at Les Grands Montets. Beds were comfy enough and unit was clean and heated. Overall would not recommend for the price we paid.

Easy to get to, friendly reception staff, very comfortable sofa bed

Perfect hotel for a visit in Chamonix with visitors with no rental car as it is ideally located within a 1-10 minute walk from the bus depot (free city bus to most trailheads), the train station, downtown Chamonix and grocery stores. An equipped kitchenette, comfy beds, and a clean room. I would recommended this to anyone staying in Chamonix.

It was very cramp but overall nice and clean. Close to a town centre that’s why we’ve chosen it. Loud as the busy street was next to it.

Apartment had a bit of a musky smell. Rest met expectations

Stayed 1 week in late May - early June 2018. In fact season is not started at that time: only Planpraz cable car and Montenvers train were open. Quiet time for tranquil hiking without crowds :) Overall hotel impression: inexpensive basic accommodation in good location with very limited service. Pros: 1. Very good location - centre of Chamonix, next to bus station 2. Quiet spacious apartment with balcony and beautiful Mont Blanc view 3. Fully equipped kitchen: microwave, electric stove, kettle, fridge, dishwasher, plates, cups, cutlery. 4. Possibility to order fresh bread for the next morning (but need to collect it from reception) Cons: 1. Non-smoking room smelled like heavy-smoking one 2. Old linen and pillows were not comfortable to use 3. No room service during whole stay of 7 days 4. No refill for toilet paper, soap, etc. 5. Strong smell of the mould from kitchen sink 6. Inconvenient bath screen construction - water on the floor after every use 7. Slow WiFi internet connection - 2 MBit. Faster internet service can be purchased separately. Things to do: 1. Visit tourist office to get relevant useful info 2. Use free buses and trains to quickly get anywhere from Servoz to Valorcine 3. Plan hiking routes in advance, keep in mind cable cars open hours and prices 4. Enjoy beautiful mountain views and nature!

No response to emails after informing hotel that we would be checking-in late. No one at hotel when we arrived. Only tel answerphone message (in French only).

Good location. Spacious accommodation. Beautiful views.

This is a great budget option in Chamonix - bring able to be self catering suited us perfectly. The apartment was basic but perfectly adequate for our stay. We loved the balcony and the views. Would definitely return here. You do have to make up your own beds, and strip them at the end of the stay.
