Palazzo Montemurro

Wonderful, cozy and very clean room. Hosts were very helpful and nice. It is located very close to the historical part of the city, but it was really quite place. I also appreciate a nice welcome gift.

I had a very pleasant stay at this charming, family-run boutique hotel in Matera. The property has a beautiful story, passed down through generations, and you can truly feel the authenticity in the building and in the way it’s managed. Communication with Antonella, the owner, was excellent — fast, warm, and in perfect English (a big bonus for travelers). Check-in was smooth and efficient, and she welcomed me with a bottle of wine in the room, which was such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture after a long journey. It was truly appreciated. My room was clean, beautifully styled, and very much in line with the character of Matera. The hotel is located in an amazing area — quiet, yet only a minute away from the most breathtaking, pastoral views of Matera at sunrise and sunset. Check-out was just as lovely; Antonella met me in person and we shared a warm conversation about life in Matera, local events, and even about fashion — which was such a delightful surprise, especially coming from someone in the fashion world myself. As a solo traveler, these human moments mean everything. Overall, a very positive experience in a hotel full of character and soul.

Fantastic host, great location, beautiful room.

The owner and husband greeted me, helped with parking car, explained the most favorable places to visit in historic Matera, told me about local bakery , coffee bar, and grocery store (all very close), the room was very clean and so well remodeled. The location was great. Right on edge of historic Matera. Historic area is all walkable. I am age 67. And no problems. I just used leg muscles that had not been used in years. There are lots of steps. Up, down and around. Take it at your own pace.

La estadía en Palazzo Montemurro fue absolutamente perfecta. A nuestra llegada nos esperaba Antonella quien estuvo siempre atenta y pendiente a nuestras consultas además de recibirnos con un delicioso vino de bienvenida. La habitación super grande y espaciosa, cama king y sábanas de gran calidad. Muy luminosa con un balcón que daba hacia una callecita que parecía sacado de un cuento. El baño con una ducha maravillosa, amenities y excelentes toallas. La ubicación inmejorable, estacionamos en la puerta y caminando unos 5 metros ya ingresabas al casco antiguo. A 1 cuadra varios cafés para desayunar, restaurantes y tiendas. Ojalá podamos volver y no duden en optar por Palazzo Montemurro!

Beautiful upscale property. Perfectly located at the edge of the historic disctrict making it IDEAL if you have a car. Antonella was exceptionally responsive as a host and a pleasure to interact with.
