The staff

The shower head was placed way to low on the wall. I am 5'6" I should not stand 6inches above the shower head

Location was perfect for what we needed. Close to the freeway so getting to where we were going and back was quick and easy. Front desk was friendly and check-in and check-out was easy. Everything was clean, though it was a bit dated. Not a big deal - we were just there to sleep.

Many of the other travelers were noisy. Doors were slamming at all hours of the night and walls were very thin. I'm a light sleeper, so I didn't get much rest. But, I know that there is little that the night crew can do about these things and it frequently affects me at "nicer" places, too. So, I didn't take a lot of points off, but it would be good if there was a "quiet hours" notice somewhere, if the doors were able to be closed more quietly, and if the sound-proofing was better.

Value for the money

I would like to have coffee in the room.

The perfect stop right off the freeway, easy to get to. A great place for road weary travelers. Huge parking lot even for trucks with trailers or fifth wheels.

No coffee in the rooms

$150 a night at a Rodeway Inn? In Albany, Oregon? Simply not worth it, imo. Unfortunately, most of the surrounding hotels in the area are at or above this price level and I searched multiple websites. So what dd $150 buy us? We got a newly remodeled room with a King size bed (you save $20 for 2 double beds) on the ground floor. What we didn't get was breakfast. Despite the presence of a breakfast nook in the office, the only item available was coffee. The desk clerk nonchalantly said that occasionally the owner would buy some muffins on a Friday? Also, they should have put in more soundproofing when they did the remodel because you will know exactly when all your neighbors are taking their showers. Oh well, it was only for a night, but ouch it still hurts to have to pay that price.

The guy at the front desk was friendly when I arrived and they honored my request for a quieter room. It was close to the Expo Center, where I was going for an event.

The bathroom was dirty. Literally had a coating of grime in the shower and on the bathroom floor. I wiped some hair out of the bathtub, then wiped dust off the edges of the tub, and the washcloth had grayish black smears all over it, which made me wonder when the last time that bathtub had been scrubbed had been. It must have been months. There was also grime and hair between the toilet seat and the tank. The hair dryer also seemed to have years of grime/hair products(?) on it. It was sticky. When I actually tried to take a shower, the showerhead was blasting water towards the side wall which bounced out of the shower beyond the curtain and soaked the floor. Again, I wiped it up and came away with a blackened, dirty towel. When I finally got in the shower, the showerhead was about 5' 5" above the bathtub. I can't imagine anyone tall being able to take a shower here. I'm short and it was still awkward. To add insult to injury when I just wanted to take a hot shower, the water was lukewarm at best. The controls for the air conditioning and heat seemed to have little rhyme or reason to what temperature it would actually be in the room. Also, its fan never shut off so there was never a moment you weren't listening to the air conditioner. But at least it wasn't as loud as some other motels/hotels I've stayed at. There's a mini fridge in the room, but it was frozen shut. When I finally yanked it open to keep a drink cold, the drink had frozen solid by the next day. For what it's worth, I felt safe here, even though I don't choose budget motels when I'm staying alone. But holy cow does this place need some upkeeping!

Clean

There was plenty of available parking for bigger vehicles, though the space in front of our room was all we needed.

When the heater was turned on it off gassed a terrible chemical smell for 40 mins before it finally dissipated. In the shower there are two plastic frames to hold shampoo and conditioner. One was broken so there was no conditioner, the other was supporting the shampoo just fine but had someone else’s hair on the bottle. -no body wash/bar soap was in the bathroom. The floors didn’t seem to be clean and immediately discolored the bottom of your socks. The beds were so worn out you spend most of your night trying to pull yourself out of the large divot in the mattress. The pillows could be compared to crepes. (We left with neck and back pain we hadn’t arrived with). The hotel advertised as being pet friendly however, they do not allow cats. Their policy is 2 dogs maximum for an additional $20 each - I feel that people would appreciate if this policy was listed on their “booking.com” profile instead of finding out when you’re there to grab your key cards.
