TownePlace Suites by Marriott Atlanta Alpharetta

We were in town for a concert at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre and had a great one night stay at TownePlace. Chose the property for it’s location and the just under 30 minute walk from the venue to the hotel was relaxing following a great show. Room was very clean and well-laid out, kitchen was small but very functional, best use of a small space I have ever seen in a hotel room. Bed was adequate (though I am getting older and don’t respond as well to is anything that is not my own bed). Shower head was high and curved shower curtain so those of us larger folks can be comfortable. Breakfast was very good, eggs (scrambled and boiled), meat (sausage and bacon), fruit, waffles, high protein Greek yogurt, fruit, grains (bread, English muffin, muffins and bagels), different juices and milks and good coffee. I especially appreciate the hazelnut creamer. Staff were very nice, gave local directions and a 10% off coupon at Village Tavern. Pool looked decent. Grounds were well-kept. My 4/5 rating for cleanliness is not 5/5 due to the fact that the hallways and elevator could have been cleaner. If I return to Alpharetta, this will be the only place I will stay.

I sincerely wish my first review was a great one but…. This was the first hotel I’ve ever walked out of and for health reasons I suggest others do the same. Smelling weed in the parking lot didn’t bother us but the MOLD in the room made us leave. When we explained why we were leaving the front desk receptionist said they would refund our room. Considering we were there no more than 15 min I will accept that as them knowing they have an issue. This is a Marriott property and I expect more from them. I wish I had read more reviews on this property. Two staff members we met were very professional but hotel rooms can be a health issue especially if there are mold allergies.

The room was clean, but when we walked in the building it smelled like weed.

The cost per night was reasonable. However, I think I would rather pay more for a clean, safe place to stay in the future. I really liked the location and being so close to an extremely nice walking trail.

Breakfast was absolutely awful! Scrambled eggs had no flavor and were cold. Coffee was mediocre. Sausage patties were hard as a rock, overcooked, and cold. My room was never cleaned on my last day of stay. I was given only one wash cloth on the second day of stay. When, I came back to my room on the third day, I found where a glass picture frame hanging over the couch had fallen and the glass was shattered. I picked up the glass, and placed on kitchen counter. The next morning I told a staff member about this. He told me that they would clean up the broken glass and replace the picture. However, they did not. All they did was remove the picture frame. Broken glass was still lying on kitchen counter the day I checked out. Upon arriving, I noticed that flooring around the bath tub was rotten. And I think that the flooring underneath bath tub is rotten as well. Lighting in bathroom was atrocious. And the air conditioner needs to be replaced. Very loud and did not cool very well.

Nothing.

Upon arrival the door was open, not locked. We walked in and there was a huge air purifier in the room, the room smelled awful, the room felt very damp and moist our entire stay. The windows were propped open with the salt and pepper shakers. The bed was not comfortable at all. This room was not worth the over $100 I paid for the single night. Very disappointing.

I liked the kitchenette and full-size appliances. Good location close to Northpoint Mall, Avalon, restaurants and shopping.

This location was disappointing compared to other Marriott and TownePlace Suites I stayed at in the past. The hotel looks very old and dated inside and out. There is a strong constant odor in the hallways and my room. The carpets are old, dirty and worn, and need to be replaced. The TV in the room was very small and old, from the year 2011. The tv was in an odd location in the room. Breakfast needs to be greatly improved. One morning there were barely any eggs and they were old and hard. Another time they ran out of sausages, eggs, and cream cheese for bagels, and was not replenished. The bed made noise and was very lumpy and close to the floor, and very uncomfortable. The walls are super thin, I heard other guests talking, and another guest snoring every night which kept waking me up! I would not stay at this location again.

The hotel itself was fine, but the dishwasher was inoperable for our visit which made it less convenient to cook and eat in the room during our stay. The issue was discovered the first evening and reported, then reported again the following morning. A maintenance person showed up that second day, attempted to resolve then left stating they would return, this never occurred. As we were leaving the machine began to leak a large amount of smelly, dirty dish water flooding the kitchen area. Upon closer inspection there were exposed electrical wires poking out from the bottom of the machine and it was missing the cover panel which would have prevented the wires from being a shock danger. An additional unrelated issue was the pool being out of service, it's allegedly going to be online next week. Parking was good and it's in a nice area, the breakfast area was small but decent.

Worst hotel ever. They assigned us a room when we got up to the room we found 10 gallons of milk in the fridge. The HVAC unit was exposed so they assign us another room. We get inside it and the windows are open and they put us under a stair case to all night we hear noise. THe rooms smelled. This place is not good at all.
