MATCHA SAMUI RESORT

This hotel was great for the price you pay. Is undergoing a renovation which I believe will make it even better. They don’t supply things like shower caps, cotton buds etc and you have to ask which was a little frustrating. Breakfast wasn’t the best we’ve had in our travels in Thailand but location is magnificent. 10 mins from nightmarket and bars and restaurants on your doorstop. Beds comfy, we got an ocean view room. Great value.

This hotel and management lie. I booked this for 2 adults and 2 children after the sale I noticed they updated the rooms as 2 adults and 1 child per room capacity, I checked with management and told they catered for 2 adults and 2 children - Was I wrong! they mean 2 adults and 1 child in the same bed with you! there was a small couch no linen, and was forced to pay for an extra bed. Whilst trying to sort it out was not given any solutions and had to pay and was told to take it up with agoda, normally the staff are willing to work with you not here! they were laughing and being rude despite all the email communication I had prior to check in. I was sat there for a good 2 hours going around in circles because the manager lied about room capacity. Whilst I was there another person came up to me and said they booked 2 adults and 1 child and they said the same and were also forced to pay for an additional bed.......not to mention the other guests waiting 4 hours after check out just to get in their room! This was the worst experience in my Thailand travels and warn people don't book if you have a family as these rooms only have 1 king size bed!!

What an awesome experience (yet again). This resort is so welcoming and the staff are so kind and polite. A special ‘thank you’ to our housekeeping lady who kept our room spotless for the whole 3 weeks. Breakfast can be a bit ‘samey’ but there’s no objection from the hotel about taking your own preferred fruit or jam. Once again, thanks to all the staff at Matcha for 3 weeks of happiness and paradise. Looking forward already to our return next year 👍😘

Stay here was OK. Positives Air con when working is good. Pillows good. Good sized room Lovely beach location Negatives Reception staff a bit mixed. Gbow on check out was particularly poor. Check out time was 12noon. She rang curtly at 12.01 and was very stern faced 3 mins later. Not the usual thai hospitality! Air con was not working first night so was a hot box. To be fair was fixed quickly the next day. The whole place feels unfinished and a bit 'unloved' Coffee at breakfast was dire.

Ive been staying next door to Matcha at Kings Garden for years and have always wondered what it would be like so this year was the year to try. It is a nicely (but only partly) refurbished older style hotel that is reminiscent of hotels I've stayed at in Waikiki, Hawaii. I had issues on arrival (not due to hotel, due to an Agoda error) that were rectified over 48 hours but marred the beginning. There were also initial issues with wifi and TV in my room so had to move three times in the lakeside building before finally upgrading to ocean side building - PRO TIP: oceanview is worth extra paying the extra cash for! Rooms are large, well sound proofed, have a nice outlook and contain a great batherrom and shower. The beds are a little on the too hard side of firm - still sleepable but even my love of a firm mattress was tested! The Wifi is farily strong and mostly reliable. All of the staff are kind and helpful. Breakfast is simple-ish and far from fancy but fine - always one Asian dish, standard English breakky type items, an egg station for eggs anyway, toast, some small pastries, salads, cereals, juice, coffee. The grounds are well kept and Matcha is situated on the best part of the beach in Chaweng - but its only a short walk to where most restaurants, bars, cafes and Central Samui shopping centre. Would consider staying again and if you book far enough out you will probably get a room for around the $AUD100 a night fee.

Right on beach very nice Lounge chairs umbrellas nice !! Pool nice Only issue water expensive 50 baht local store 10 baht , should lower price Food good decent price , but some local restaurants do Thai food 90 baht

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, smooth check in, clean room.

Great location. Breakfast buffet was good with great service. Did not clean the room the last two days of being there. Had to get our own clean towels and toilet paper. Pool and Bar attendant s were good but sat and smoked pot all day. Pool area could have a little more attention as cleanup was seldom done. Early morning front desk personnel did not know how to use the credit card machine. In spite of this we enjoyed our stay on Ko Samui.

No hot water one night in the shower. Old place, shower is small. Staff are very nice.

Our favourite hotel in Samui as it’s so nice, staff are friendly, it’s in a great location and such good value. Rooms are a good size with a nice balcony and small but good bathroom. You have everything you need from bathrobes and slippers to hairdryer, fridge and tea and coffee making items. Breakfast is not the fanciest but has everything you need including an egg station with the best made poached eggs ever. Food in the hotel is delicious so good for lunch and dinner. Prices for food and drinks are not expensive so no need to leave the hotel to get better prices. Cocktails and wine are both great. Location is amazing as in the main area of Chaweng with a beautiful big pool right on the beach, however far enough away from crazy bit to still be quiet and relaxing. Staff are so friendly thanks to Kae, Job, Pancake and Bee for looking after us so well. Special mention to reception staff who are great- One and (Mo?) for taking us to the airport herself when our booked car for stuck in a traffic jam. Can’t wait to come back.
