Suites Camino Real

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was quite standard upscale hotel, with fresh fruits and a cook to order eggs station ,but nothing exceptional or nothing to complain about. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable.

In the rooms: We were surprised to have amenity provisions for only 1 person (example toiletries; only 1 bathrobe; 1 washcloth, etc) despite booking a Suite as a couple. Most 3 star hotels even provide 2 sets of towels for use in rooms that sleep min. two. We had to request a 2nd set of each as needed. The dining food quality was just ok. We ordered the featured steak dishes on our first night and both arrived with promise, sizzling on platters! But, both steaks tasted exactly the same, even though supposed to be different animals, and in both cases taste was bland and meat tough. Additionally, when we went to enjoy the Spa facility, even though we had booked in advance our couples massage, there was no one attending the Spa center to greet us or provide us robes or towels. The reception desk was unattended and we had to help ourselves to towels from the shelf behind their welcome desk. The massage/facial center, clearly operated by a 3rd party, had our reservations in their system so were available to provide us that service as expected. But for the rest of the Spa area, including the steam, sauna and pool areas, we were on our own and had to call for assistance to activate some of the facilities (like to get the steam room ready, or to turn on the hot tub jets, etc as the master controls were out of sight), as we were quite on our own the entire time. We didn't mind the private experience, but just wanted to mention that it wasn't what we expected, and it did give the impression that these services are not frequently utilized/provided, etc, so it made us question if the sanitary standards were up to date as well. But, in the end we did have a good relaxing experience amidst the quiet, and appreciated the staff whenever we did interact with them!

Amazing hotel in a great safe location and excellent attentive staff. Food was first class, especially the breakfast. We would definitely be happy to recommend this hotel to friends and family. The spa facilities were also very good and enjoyable

When we checked in, the keycards weren't working, there was electrical issues with the vent in the bathroom, and the ensuite phone wasn't working. For 45+ minutes and after multiple trips up and down (between the room and front desk) in an attemp to resolve the issues, the keycard/door, the bathroom vent, and the ensuite phone still weren't working, but the hotel still refused to change our rooms until I asked about 4 or 5 times, and personally showed the manager all the issues. We had booked this hotel for the pool/sauna facilities, so when checking in, we specifically asked about its opening hours. The sauna opens at 7am, so we went down at 9am, but it wasn't working yet. When we asked the front desk why the sauna wasn't working, and they said it starts at 10am. I went down to the pool/sauna again, took a photo of the notice that said sauna starts at 7am, and showed it to frontdesk. Only then, they changed their words and said that we need to let them know an hour before use. No one had told us this, but the front desk kept trying to shift the blame to us, saying that they tell all guests this at check-in. Not a single "sorry", but just constantly changing their words and telling us it is our fault. After we made these requests/complaints, the hotel staff became visibly rude to us and stopped treating us like guests. We have never felt so unwelcomed and unsafe at any hotel. Worst experience at any hotel (let alone a supposedly 5-star hotel).
