Village Hotel Birmingham Walsall

I always stay at the village for the last three years nearly every 6-8 weeks for work etc however for the first time I got the dates wrong to change my stay for one night it cost me £200 an additional £100 this is a lot of money for a basic small room I was disappointed

The heater in the room that I can control by myself and also the shower in the bathroom. I like the little provision for tea and cofee

The bed is not comfortable . The fire alarm that came on very early in the morning and disrupted my sleep

Unfortunately, our recent stay was extremely disappointing from start to finish. On arrival, the receptionist didn’t greet or acknowledge us, which immediately gave a poor first impression. Although the refurbished room looked nice, the Club upgrade did not feel worth the extra cost. The room was also incredibly dark, with no proper lighting above the mirror. We also experienced several issues throughout the stay. Our bar credit hadn’t been set up properly, which staff blamed on reception not explaining things at check-in. Some of our food arrived cold and when we mentioned it, the response was rude and unapologetic. The food was clearly just thrown back into the fryer and came back greasy and unpleasant. Staff generally made us feel like asking for basic things, such as plates, was an inconvenience. The spa facilities were disappointing too, with parts closed and no communication about this beforehand. At 6:30am the following morning, the fire alarm went off. While fire alarms happen, there was absolutely no organisation or communication from staff, which was concerning. Guests were left standing outside confused until another guest told everyone we could go back in. Check-out was just as unfriendly as check-in, with no thanks or interest in how our stay had been. We’ve stayed here many times over the years and the service used to be excellent, but unfortunately the standard has noticeably declined. Overall, the whole stay felt chaotic, poorly managed and lacking basic customer service.

The clubs rooms are a decent size, nice and clean bedrooms and showers are great. Very nice touch with both a kettle and a coffee machine , this was extremely appreciated. Having the pub and grill as well as Starbucks within the Hotel was great for grabbing food at anytime. Location was very central very close to Walsall station as well as shopping centers approx 8 to 10mins drive.

The only reason for not give full marks was due to the false alarm that woke us up very early especially after having a long journey that day.
