VH Atmosphere - Adults Only

This is really an extremely BORING resort!!! There's a ton of old people, there's no game room, they have ONE pool table for the entire resort. Nor are there activities on-site to keep you interested. Everyone eats breakfast. lunch and dinner and SIT and I do mean SIT next to the pool. There's no MUSIC!!! This is the first time I EVER experienced NO MUSIC. I got an in-ground pool at home where I have more fun. Just waiting for the weather to break. There are no mirrors in the room, only in the bathroom, which I found quite disappointing. The Garden Rooms are just that. The balconies are literally along the walking path everyone can see right into your room if you don't have the drapes closed. There's only one maid service per day and although she did a half-ass job in the room, I still gave her a minimum tip, because she's young. I had a dead waterbug I killed under the dresser for 2 days. The sheets had some type of permanent stain. I made it clear to her I wanted additional creamers, she didn't get it. If she did, she would've made sure I had extra since I tipped her personally indicating I wanted more creamers. I won't ever be back at this resort. They have a closed abandon resort property next to it and it won't be long before they follow suit. The most exciting part of the resort is the food. Don't bother trying to get into the 2 "specialty" restaurants - International and Mozarella. The buffet serves the exact same foods at those restaurants.

The small Gym was nice and had a great view of the small lake, the gardens around the property very pleasant, 10 Minute walk to beach, swimming pool small and mediocre, you have to wait to get a table to eat, service staff isn’t attentive and English isn’t spoken, left a gold chain in a room since safe wasn’t working and no one to fix it, after transfer, told staff about it, they didn’t react fast enough and didn’t let us in the room for a while, when they got all the approvals supposedly to get back there it was gone ) There was no inquiry or any apology about this incident.

The fact that you could not reserve the specialty restaurants (only 2) for the length of your stay is ridiculous, instead they make you go every morning to desk to reserve. No real entertainment, food was subpar.

The bar uses drinks made from sirup drink ,the drink where horrible

I like that the quietness, the seclusion and how clean the property was.

I thought the lobby area was very boring when I arrived there was no music at all as you first arrive and the lobby counter was boring it’s a small place but nice the gym is pretty nice. The food needed more variety and more salads , the beach is a 10 minute walk not to bad. The pool is small.

The place is quiet and relaxing. The food is good. In the pool area the staff offers entertainment, especially in the afternoons. It is close to La Plaza, a small shopping center where one can get almost anything.

LOCATION: It’s inside Playa Dorado compound with other resorts and is nicely situated, giving you beautiful Mountain View’s. BEACH ACCESS: If you take the shuttle, it’s about a 5 minute walk. If you decide to walk, it’s a good 10-15 minute walk inside the compound. ROOM: Our room was nice and spacious with a balcony and decent closet. The bathroom was somewhat updated. The bed and pillows were comfortable and clean. SERVICE: Service inside the buffet and bar area were poor. They have no “system” to seat and/or serve you, so many of the servers do not realize you have sat down or are in need of anything. Every single night we were having to ask for silverware, a glass of water and even napkins. On our final night, we booked dinner at the a la carte restaurant. They only had 1 server and it took about 30 minutes for him to take our order. They also had karaoke right next to the dining room which was very loud and frustrating. FOOD: The only thing that was worth mentioning was the Paella. Everything else was standard chicken, rice, beans, fries, etc. The a la carte restaurant served us cold hash browns, which seemed to be from that mornings breakfast, as an appetizer. DRINKS: Terrible. They use syrup mixes and everything is too sweet with no alcohol. OVERALL: The beach is beautiful, the resort is pretty but they really need to step it up on their service, food/drinks. If they fixed those areas, we would go back again.

I liked the staff, the quality of the facility itself. It simply felt like a senior's resort and was generally dull, but it is what you make it i guess. ;). .. I did not like getting forced into a $35 cab ride as the sole way for a lone traveller to get to the resort from the airport (and back). The facility NEEDS a bus shuttle to Puerto Plata, and not have the region try to extract. nickels and dimes from us. All in all, a beautiful place, albeit very quiet. ps: please leave the poor piglets alone, displaying one poor soul's FULL BODY for meat-eaters to pull chunks from is devastating to vegans and to the poor piglet.

Excellent service and friendly staff. They make you feel at home. A charming hotel.
