The Carlton Hotel, Atascadero, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

My husband and I, both Bonvoy members, recently stayed here for one night while in the area for wine tasting and a visit to Sensorio. The hotel’s location is excellent—within easy walking distance of coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and a movie theater. The lobby is beautifully designed, and while our room was not large, it was comfortable, well-appointed, and featured lush carpeting and quality amenities. The room was fully renovated and pleasantly quiet, although our view overlooked nearby buildings rather than anything scenic. We especially enjoyed the garden terrace on the second floor and appreciated the convenient bar and restaurant next door. However, we were disappointed by the lack of hospitality typically associated with Bonvoy properties. Upon check-in, the front desk staff member was neither friendly nor helpful—she did not mention parking options (which are not immediately obvious) or any amenities besides the gym. Later, when we returned to the hotel after exploring the area, we received no greeting or acknowledgment; the staff member did not even look up from her computer. We understand that the hotel has only recently become part of the Bonvoy group, so hopefully these service issues will be resolved with time.

They charged double time, I payed already on 3 January 2026 for the room, on the arrival they asked for a credit card so my friend gave her credit card and they finaly charged double time to price of the room, since 18 April we are waiting for that money back after so many calsl and email we have nothings, we contacted Booking then they contacted them as well, still nothing come out ! We hoping getting our money ASAP! Is unacceptable to say yes we gonna do something and then nothing at all, on a big trip in Us be charged twice is something mesurable on a budget. Avoid totally this place !

The hotel is kinda nice , but I don't see the huge deal. May be Because it's somewhat historic. I got there within the check in time in my room wasn't ready for almost an hour after I arrived. When I got in there was a few things in the bathroom that looked rundown in the bed area slipped and slide it all over the floor I almost fell a couple times. They were doing construction again. The restaurant wasn't open the gym wasn't open and the other people that were in the hotel kept slamming doors and going up-and-down the hall like maniacs, I told the front desk about this and all they did was, say, sorry, I would hope that something would have been done to tell the people in the hotel that other people are here, and they'd like a little bit of peace, but that was not the case. Anyway, after staying at the Carlton for the first time, I won't stay there again.You had to park across the street to be at the hotel which I thought was.I mean , after a hotel being there for so long you think they'd have their own private parking.
