Condesa df, Mexico City, a Member of Design Hotels

My husband and I came here on the second leg of our honeymoon following a relaxing trip in Tulum. We were hoping for a city-chic yet historical hotel that looked similar to the photos online. For nearly $500 USD a night, we were expecting some level of luxury. The outside of the building is beautiful- really stunning. Same with the rooftop. However, when we were let into our room I was severely disappointed. The bathroom was growing mold on the grout and floor, the rooms were SO incredibly small, there was a funky smell throughout, the floors were cracked and old. The rug under the bed was gross too. I actually cried after looking around (maybe a bit dramatic but felt so disappointed). We immediately asked if we could get our money back and we looked for a different place to stay- we felt as if we couldn’t even sleep there. They said we could get our money back, however, the concierge Carlos was VERY kind to us and offered us an upgraded room that was a bit larger and had a terrace, as well as a complementary bottle of champagne. However, the bathroom was still not up to par, the floors had large gaps in the wood, and the room was still a rip off for the price we were paying- but we took it to avoid the hassle of finding a different hotel the night-of. The beds were rock hard and the inside of the room and hotel was just so outdated and run down. We tried to be out of the room as much as possible though, which helped. It was such a great location within walking distance to many bars, restaurants, and parks- so that helped! We luckily have our final few nights reserved at the Sofitel (absolutely beautiful- recommend staying here), which, for only $150 USD more a night, it is absolutely night and day and has redeemed our hotel experience here in CDMX.

I loved the design. The staff was friendly. The vibe was so perfect and calm.

Very noisy on first night due to function in centre atrium - ie right outside room. Basic rooms are very small Bathrooms badly needing some refurbishment

Beautiful, charming building, but a little dated. Bed was comfortable and ambiance was attractive.. Location is great, in excellent neighborhood,. nice balcony. However, bathroom is very small (as a side note: great water pressure in shower), not enough furnishings (ie: no office desk, chests or shelves and only one waste basket in whole suite). Roof top bar/restaurant and first floor restaurant and breakfast are great amenities.

Absolutely wonderful hotel and stay! Loved every minute.

Lack of hangers and storage space in room was disappointing. Was there for wedding and needed to hang clothes but there were no hangers. When asked they provided a couple.
