Prince Solms Inn

Three long nights with the the worst mattress imaginable. Everything in my room was worn out many years ago. The toilet is in a closet so small that I had to leave the door open for my knees to fit in while seated. I had to make a phone call to the hotel and tell them I was in the lobby and needed to check-in at 5:00 PM. I was told that breakfast would be served at 9:00 AM. I don't wait until 9am for breakfast so I had to go out and pay for an earlier breakfast. Very disappointed.

We loved it. Convenient to walk to historic downtown. Just minutes away from the river for tubing or Schlitterbahn. Only 2 miles from Gruene historic area. We will definitely be returning.

I had really high expectations of Prince Solms Inn B&B due to all the positive ratings and the fact that I had never stayed at a bed & breakfast. Upon arrival, the "innkeeper" that checked my husband and I in was not very personable. She gave us a two minute tour of the facility and showed us to our room. Apparently all the rooms as this place are themed and our was the "Huntsman", which did not have a huntsman them to say the least. The room was not clean, as the comforter smelled of mildew, as though it had never been washed and/or dried cleaned. Restroom was extremely small. Our room faced a very loud and busy street, so sleeping through the night was not existant. The guests that were staying accross the hall were so inconsiderate, as they sat out on the balcony right outside our window at what seemed to be 6:00 a.m. That being said, you can hear a pin drop from all accross the hallway. EXTREMLY DISASTIFIED!

This is honestly a lovely little bed and breakfast with antique furniture and a nice atmosphere. The breakfast was home cooked at a comfortable hour, and it is located near some excellent local attractions. As to the negatives, the bathroom was... quaint. Also, the bed was less comfortable than I would have liked.

I want to start with the good stuff, because all in all, we enjoyed our stay. We spent one night in the Penelope room. It was clean and comfortable, and the decor and furnishings reminded me of visits to my elderly great-aunt's old house in the Hill Country. The bed was comfy, there was a fridge stocked with Cokes, and the water stayed hot throughout my shower. Off to a good start! We met the owner at breakfast. He was super friendly, and helped me with some issues that arose due to a medical condition. The food was good enough, and portions were filling. We had to eat outside because the dining room was full, but that was fine - the patio area is lovely. We were in New Braunfels to go tubing, and the inn is only a block or two from the Rockin' R entrance. There were also a nice coffee shop, a bakery with gluten-free options, and a great German restaurant in walking distance. Score! There was a lot of noise from traffic, but the fan does a good job muffling it. My only real complaint was noise from the other guests. The upstairs porch has seating areas directly outside the windows in the Penelope room, so if your neighbors want to get drunk and gossip on the porch all night, you're going to hear every word. They were nice enough to move to the side of the porch in front of their room when asked, but I still didn't get much sleep.

The room was very quaint and comfortable, the staff was outstanding, and the breakfast was very good.

My wife and I spent the weekend at Prince Solms Inn in New Braunfels Texas. We love the nostalgic charm of this awesome hotel. The room was very clean and you could just melt into the bed. Breakfast is served every morning and it is a perfect way to start the day. The manager must have asked us about ten times if everything was to our liking. It just seems to me that they care about you and want to help make your stay the best it can be.

It was very quiet the night we stayed there-contrary to some reports we read. The piano bar was closed. Our host, Al, was extremely helpful and considerate. Breakfast was very good. The room was small, but,comfortable.

Inn was not busy but innkeeper went out his way to make us feel welcome.

The Bed & Breakfast was located near downtown & that made for a lot of traffic noise especially at night while trying to sleep. There was a very good selection of rooms & each room that we looked at (3) was unique & decorated with antiques. The owner was friendly & a busy hard working man. We didn't feel we were "pampered" as in our other B & B stays. We were not asked what we may want for breakfast & although it was ok breakfast was not very unique or special. We don't eat much meat & we were served sausage & the couple next to us stated that one of them was allergic to eggs, which was being served. Other B & B's emailed us after making reservations & asked if there were any dietary requests or restrictions.
