The Bay Hotel

It has an interesting layout with different spots to sit and read on those days when the Fairest Cape decides to be not so fair. We had a few days that were too windy or rainy to be “oot n aboot” Not to mention a great kitchen with great staff. Scott Melvin at the Bistro Cafe produces amazing cheesecake and even parted with the recipe with a smile. Can’t wait to try to reproduce it at home. Our overseas guests had a medical problem and that was attended to smartly. Above and beyond. Thank you Bantry Bay’ers.

The hot water for showers or bath is only lukewarm. For a cold fish like me, it was not so nice and soaking in the tub just is not an option as the water is cold before the bath water is “yay high”. Our heated towel rail was replaced promptly once we reported its demise.

Everything, from the location, to staff, services and amenities - was great. I enjoyed my stay there very much!

The staff were very friendly and efficient, room comfortable and breakfast great. Well located for trips around the area. The security team were helpful and very efficient.

We stayed at The Bay Hotel for 4 nights on our first visit to Cape Town. The hotel is in a great location, with many restaurants located within walking distance, the beach across the road, and the hop on, hop off bus stop right outside the hotel gates. Our room had a sea view and was huge! A separate seating area, a smart tv, a walk in shower and endless cupboard space. The mini bar was restocked daily with soft beverages and snacks which was a lovely touch! Hats off to the cleaning staff who do a fantastic job! One of my favourite things was getting in from dinner to a turned down bed, complete with a hot water bottle! We had breakfast daily at the hotel and it was superb! The omelettes are amazing and my partner loved the eggs Benedict! One morning we took advantage of the massage vouchers given on arrival and went to the spa. It was slightly oversold as coming with a fruit platter and bubbly but we didn’t miss these. The massages we both had were extremely relaxing so we’re glad we done this! It also filled some time during a storm which prevented us exploring more of the city. The only issue we encountered was the water for showering was never very hot. We have maintenance come out to our room twice but it didn’t seem to make a difference. It was hit and miss, sometimes it got warm (never scalding hot like I personally like), other times it didn’t but we learnt to persevere in the end. All the staff were lovely and accommodating on the site, the security guards at the front of the hotel always smiley and happy to greet us. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Cape Town!
