Magnuson Hotel Detroit Airport

It’s cheap for a reason. The photos online are edited like crazy. Lobby is nice but as soon as you turn the corner to get the rooms it’s all downhill. Reeks of cigarette smoke. People screaming in the halls and rooms. Room was disgusting. Stains and hair all over the bed. Everything was sticky. Lock was not even screwed into the wall. Sink didn’t drain unless you held the plug up. A/C did not work and the list goes on. You get what you pay for I suppose but good grief.

Location and shuttle

Old, dirty. Needs to be refurbished completely.

Staff was friendly and accommodating

We did get a security deposit when we got there although the booking site stated there was none but it was refunded days later. The breakfast selection was very skimp but other than that it was an ok stay

Property was runned down, needs major repairs. Walls had wholes that were spackled over, room and hallways were dirty and smelled. Trash was overflowing near exit doors. Parking lot did not appear to be safe, a man was sleeping and appeared to be living in his car. Gym equipment was broken. Would not stay again.

Transportation to airport was fast and timely, had to wait quite a while for shuttle to pick us up from the airport though. Loved there was a Big Boy next door, no bar - lounge as stated in the ad. Overall nice stay.

Too many drunks hanging around. Needs to be updated. Old and ran down. Definitely NOT smoke free. Disgusting cigarette and marijuana smell. Seemed more like a residential apartment instead of a hotel.

I already prepaid for my stay when I checked in they charged me twice for my stay when I called them about it they are ignoring my calls

Convenient to airport and close to Great eating spots .really good deal for the money and coldest mini fridges you will ever co m e across in your life

This is my second time staying with Magnuson and it was great .

Convenient location, cheapest around.

The staff was awful, the rooms were dirty. The first night we had to move rooms due to roaches. There were also cigarette butts in the hallway, trash piled up everywhere, most of the furniture and fixtures (shower) were stained and broken. Dead bugs in the drawers. Then we had to extend our stay by a few more days (cost was a factor or we'd have left) and the front desk lady was absolutely awful. I asked for a receipt and she refused to provide one. She made me sign a paper with the charges and I asked for a copy and she said no, so I explained I just want a copy of whatever I had just signed as it's my signature and I have a right to read what I am signing, then she said too bad you should have read it when you had the chance. I said I didn't know I wouldn't get a copy or I'd have read it first. Then I asked if I could have it back for a minute and just take a picture of it with my phone and she said no and if I asked again she was calling the police. I asked why I couldn't have a copy and then she said I'm not getting a receipt and I'm not going to be staying there anymore because she wasn't in the mood so to get my things and leave although I had already paid for more days. Mind you I did not so much as raise my voice only asked for a receipt. Then a bystander in the lobby asked why she wouldn't give me a receipt and she told him to mind his own business and sprayed that guest with a chemical bottle. We have all of this on video and the cameras at the hotel as well. She needs to be fired and I want a full refund.
