Super 8 by Wyndham Garland Rowlett East Dallas Area

Hotel had a very stale/cigarette smell (even though it was a non-smoking facility). Bath tub dirty, carpet very stained, blow dryer fell apart as soon as I pulled off the wall, did not work. Juice machine at breakfast had an out of order sign. Only drink for breakfast was coffee. What I was most upset about is after paying for room in full prior to arrival I was told there was a $40 deposit required, cash only. Paid it, he did not want to provide receipt. He finally did and I did receive the cash back the next morning at check out. If no one inspected the room prior to check out, why is that "deposit" required if the room was paid in full with a card prior to arrival? It cant be for damages since it was refunded back to me at check out. Seemed a bit sketch.

We were coming up to the Rockwall area to help family in an assisted living facility. We had previously stayed at this property, which is convenient to family and the staff had been wonderful and helpful. However, I mistakenly made the reservation for the day before we were coming up. I immediately recognized my mistake, and reached out to the property to change the reservation to the following day. I was told by the front desk staff that I needed to contact Expedia, which I did. Expedia staff was understanding, and told me they would personally contact the property and go to bat for us. I attempted numerous times to message the property as well, explaining that I had made an honest mistake and needed to change my reservation for the following day. The property 'ghosted' my messages (during our previous time, they were very communicative)...after some time, Expedia contacted me saying that the property had denied my request. I called the front desk to plead my case again, and was treated fairly rudely by the lady (reportedly the manager on duty), saying that it was an Expedia problem. I told her numerous times that Expedia stated that the property set the rules and could modify a reservation if they chose to. After explaining again that I had made an honest mistake on the date (I was not trying to cancel the reservation, we just needed it for the following night) she did not budge, showing no compassion. I hope they enjoyed making money on a stay that wasn't used.

Some of the furniture needs to be replaced. There seems to be people living on their cars staying in the parking lot.

Didn't like to PAY UPFRONT CASH $40 DEPOSIT EVENTHOUGH I PAID FOR ROOM WITH A CREDIT CARD UPON CHECK-IN. HAD TO WAIT TO GET DEPOSIT BACK WHILE STAFF CHECKED ROOM.

I loved the hotel, the location, the convenience, ALL Of The Staff, the family oriented environment, etc. The bed was so comfortable me and my little family slept in all days it was really needed more then you could even imagine Super 8 you gave us the comfort we needed and we will be spending a lot more nights there. The only dislike I have is the small parking lot space
