The experience of staying in an ancient monastery

The man who did my check in (short,black hair and glasses) told me NOT to use Booking. It's the very first time in 10 years of traveling that someone ever dared to lecture/nag me.

Very friendly staff. Great location. Free parking for our bikes. Lots of character. Great breakfast in atmospheric old church. Fab big robe and slippers in room for showering, but 2 tired shower rooms a bit rickety.

Room was old, shabby. No en suite. Had a bowl in the room with no hot water or plug. TV didn't work. Curtains half hanging off. One single small wc for 6 rooms.

Great staff, great location. Would recommend

Only issue was that noise could be loud occasionally - especially at night.

Good location, historic building, clean

The single room was just overpriced for a small room without breakfast and with shared bathroom and toilet; half of the price and it would be really a great place!

The location of this hotel is its main advantage: close to a tram stop. Another advantage is breakfast: food is good, various drinks, something sweet etc. Personel people are friendly, although I had an impression that they not always know what to do in order to solve the problem (I had a problem with TV set, since someone leaved pilot for another type of TV set than the one I had in my room; only after the third trial the problem was sold by a personel person who went with me to my room).

I think that although is quite clear that in old building not all is possible, some simple things could be done. For example, larger maps of Ghent could be available. I also think that a chair could be more comfortable (I was in a business trip, and I had to spend some time at desk). Finally, I do not see any reason to give a hotel client the room without the part covering the keyhole, at least for the price I had to pay.
