The room was spacious and the necessities were provided eg towels, bar fridge, hairdryer, etc.

Learn your guests names and not try shorten them, alternatively, you are welcome to call them ma’am or sir. A name is something personal for someone and is part of the hospitality of an establishment on how you address your guests.

Modern rooms with nice beds and showers. Wendy the hostess was the most lovely and helpful lady.

Fantastic views and Wendy is very friendly and helpful. Modern rooms with great views and large bathrooms with great showers.

My room number 5 was by the out of hours entrance and it got propped open. We were unlucky in that it was wet and windy which made my door rattle. One of the bulbs above the shower didn’t work nor did the main chandelier light above the bed. The sound insulation is also not great. I could the next door bathroom very clearly.

Wendy was the most attentive host anyone could ask for. She paid attention to detail and was truly present. The check in and and check out process was seamless. The views from the balconies were immaculate. The facility is clean and feels luxurious. The mirrors made for perfect photo moments. Breakfast was delicious and had a huge variety. They cater for vegetarians and vegans as well. There is a lot of information about what to do in Knysna. The house is central. Getting to most places was easy. They are willing to make reservations for you at the various restaurants.

Leaving.

Somervreug is an absolute hidden gem. Pleasantly surprised by the actual accuracy of the hotel- in terms of being rated a five star ⭐️, it absolutely lives up to that. The kitchenette is very small but functional and the lounge area was the least used space, it was basically just a couch. • The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and everything was meticulously seen to as far as tv’s and en-suite bathrooms in every room goes, aircons, Charlotte Reese amenities and luxurious white robes in all 3 bathrooms! The breakfast was good, obviously limited because we are only halaal eating guests. But they did try their very best. The owner's son Louis- comes second to none as our breakfast mascot and highlight to the start of our morning. We all looked forward to his friendly banter and extremely helpful and sunny demeanour. He was an absolute charm. The staff were warm and friendly, and the areas are well designated for privacy and location is centralized. We had a ball of a time and would HIGHLY recommend Somervreug big and small families alike.

Wendy who basically manages the place was unfortunately a little salty on our arrival- we were told to initially park in a certain area to offload all our luggage, and whilst doing so, she arrived from somewhere into out unit and proceeded to kind of got totally annoyed with us for parking in her spot which wasn’t even marked as reserved or anything of the sort. So, unfortunately, that first impression did put a damper on things for us. Her attitude however did warm up during our stay though thereafter, but she did blow hot and at times cold and was finicky about silly little things with us which became annoying at times. Having said that it still did not do enough to put damper on a lovely place to stay.
