Florence Nightingale Suites at Lea Hurst

The property was outstanding. Each room had a testimony to Florence Nightingale, which was exactly what we were looking for, but exceeded our expectations. You can tell that there was an excellent attention to detail. The rooms were incredibly clean and tidy. The location was perfect. We were able to walk down to the Cromford Canal and into Matlock Bath.

The history. And our history Svitlana. She was amazing

Svitlana was a wonderful host, very attentive to our needs. At first the house felt a bit chilly and she cranked up the heating and in the evening set and lit the log fire for us. She was knowledgeable about the house, it's history and Florence's history and gave us a special tour to share this information. We had privacy, each group staying had a different sitting room, all with wonderful views, and different eating areas too! The bedroom was beautiful and warm with a huge en suite. The bed cosy and very comfortable, the water hot and the shower powerful. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Svitlana went out of her way to make personal touches for us. The grounds are beautiful with some interesting plants, and the parkland surrounding us private with visiting deer and sheep! We would really recommend this beautiful place highly.

Svitlana was a wonderful host, very knowledgeable about The Crimean War and she gave us a really insightful tour around the house that was the childhood home of Florence Nightingale. Food was delicious, beautiful full English breakfast in the morning. My partner and I’s bedroom was tidy and very clean. The garden was peaceful, elegant, and well maintained.

The host was lovely and so happy to cater for whatever we needed that they were able to provide, and even gave us a tour of the house explaining the rich history of the former occupants. The location was absolutely stunning, with lots of local walks on your doorstep, and the house itself was immaculate, with a deep and interesting history. The facilities were excellent, and the food was delicious. I couldn't think of a more wonderful place to stay for a long weekend or even longer.
