Grand Hotel Smeraldo Beach

Location was fabulous with a private beach and a lovely relaxing atmosphere through the hotel. Staff were very friendly to our toddler. The Hotel also treated us to Prosecco on arrival for a special birthday.

A shame dinner in the restaurant didn’t start until 7:30pm as with a toddler we had to eat elsewhere earlier.

Lovely hotel, we had an ocean view room amazing waking up to that view each day, room very spacious. Hotel was very clean and well kept beautiful gardens, plenty of sun beds round the swimming pools and there we plenty on the beach. Breakfast plenty of choice everything was fresh. Short walk to the restaurants with lots to choose from. If you want to explore good idea to have a car as quite hotel is quite remote from another other towns, hotel has a car park or you can park outside.

The hotel is set in an undeniably beautiful location with access to a private beach. Rooms are very good and very clean and breakfast is really good with a wide range of choice. If all you want is to stay at the resort and enjoy what is on offer then this is for you. Before we went I emailed asking about excursions etc and was told that this information would be available on arrival. However when we got there all the excursions had already been booked up and the only one we managed to secure was on our last day, was cancelled. My criticism is that the front desk did not help with offering information at the start e.g. a map of the immediate location giving information on location of booking booths for boat trips, where the tourist information was, market day , where the local supermarket was - all these things we had to find out for ourselves. It seemed that you needed to ask questions rather than be given a package of info like in other hotels. The trip which was cancelled (no fault of theirs) was only discovered when I went down the previous evening to ask the pick up time for the following morning and then we were left a note in German under our door. Had we known in advance then we might have been able to sort another trip for that day.

Everything was perfect!!! The staff, beach, breakfast, cocktails! We had a sea view roo and it was fantastic!!! To Recommend!

Very good location, friendly staff, beautifull building desing, very clean, nice garden. Food- speechless! A lot of choices for breakfast and dinner, super quality and taste. Big ❤️ for your kitchen cheffs🙂🙃

I have have just returned from a week at the Grand Hotel Smeraldo Beach in Baja Sardinia and simply could not fault it. As noted in other reviews the location is picture perfect with the hotel benefiting from its own private stretch of beach and within 5-10 minutes walking distance of the small resort centre, although its worth noting that some of the inclines might be challenging for those with walking difficulties. Again as noted the half board option was really good value with all the usual choices at breakfast and the evening meal which consists of four courses was always enjoyable, wines ranged in costs upwards of 25 euros per bottle so not cheap but similar to those elsewhere. I can see that many people have commented on the rooms being dated which is true, but in my opinion this only added to the rustic charm of the hotel and the option of a sea view room is highly recommended. What did surprise me was just how busy the hotel was for mid September as I had expected the hotel to be quietening down for the end of the season, but no the opposite was the case as it was really busy, with a wide variety of guests from many different nationalities. I was slightly concerned over some review noting that the sun beds were difficult to find in the morning due to other guests reserving them first thing and whilst this did occur we never found any problems finding one and enjoyed all the nooks and crannies which were tucked away around the hotel grounds. Again as noted the staff were marvellous and attentive so again no concerns. Worth highlighting that the nearest supermarket is a 15 minute uphill walk at a steady pace. In summary, we really enjoyed our time and would recommend this hotel for a family or couple looking for a beach holiday.

A lovely spot locaion wise in a small cove but there are some pros and cons. Pros 4 course meals , helpful staff and lovely scenery. There were some cons though. The room itself was apinted like some kind of Barbie den-not to my taste but more importantly no tea or cofee making facilities were provided. Not many plug points and noUSB points aswell, so bring an adpater for charging. There is an extensive and wide site ogf mini pools and the main pool. So many of these are reached by steps and its OK for most, but if you have a mobility problem I'd book elsewhere. Not much problems with sunbeds, although you may lose your favourite spot, you'll find another. There is little to no public transport in this part of sardinia and so going anywhere for those that don't want to car hire is by boat. there is a lovley boat trip out to the nearby archipelego though. There's a piano bar in the evening and the servie there was OK. For sa meal out go to the nearby pretty decent Pizza restaurant. Also it's just a 10 minute at most walk to the main part of the resort where theres a large beach, some pedalos , kayaks and s few shops. Its quite popular and theres some decent places to get an ice cream or eat out. On the down side for the hotel, we did point out that my daughter had nut allergies and nearly every night they brought a dessert with almonds on . A forceful reminder to the reception staff about this problem did on the last night bring a no nuts dessert to the table.On the whole though a decent enough place to stay and the fact that it wasn't over run with Brits was a good sign. In my expereince if you go where the Germans go its usually a decent place.

Beautiful location and hotel, staff hard working and all pleasant. Lovely beach attached to the hotel with great snorkelling. Four course dinner served to the table, idyllic location. First impression might be that the hotel and rooms are a little dated but ac works well, views to die for and great sleep. What’s not to like.

Die Hotelanlage ist toll gestaltet mit, insbesondere mit den Pools und Liegemöglichkeiten auf verschiedenen Ebenen und es schön in die Bucht eingebaut. Insgesamt hat das Hotel einen schönen Charme, auch wenn es sicherlich schon ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen ist. Das Abendessen als Menü war abwechslungsreich und lecker. Das Frühstück war gut. Das Personal beim Frühstück und Abendessen ausgesprochen freundlich! Die Lage des Hotels ist toll, zu einem Aussichtspunkt, von dem aus man die Bucht überblicken kann, sind es nur 100 m den Hügel hinauf. Zum Ortsinneren sind es nur wenige Minuten Fußweg.

Die Betten waren für unseren Geschmack etwas hart und eher schmal.
