We booked two single rooms. Though there was no view, the room was large, comfortable and clean as was the bathroom.

The restaurant had a very limited , basic menu. The bathroom did not have a bath.

"Great value, location and breakfast. Fantastic staff."

9.0

The staff, especially those in the dinning room for breakfast, were exemplary. Possibly some of the best, most attentive but friendly and unobtrusive I have experienced in a hotel. The buffet breakfast was very good plenty of choices across the hot and cold buffet ranges. And not the cheap, nasty fare that is found in some buffet restaurants. The location was good, away from the noise of central Douglas and had fantastic views across the beach from the dinning room. The room was as you would expect for a hotel but was nice, modern and refurbished even though the hotel was a Victorian building.

Our room was directly above the kitchen. The smell of cabbage (or similar) in the room was quite strong. There was also a tiny sharp bit in the bed

"It was a pleasant stay and a decent 3 star hotel."

7.0

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was spotless and very comfortable. The room was quite hot at night but a fan was provided which I was able to utilise. The breakfast was very nice and there was lots of choice.

I was visiting the island for a funeral, I’m originally Manx and chose the hotel for its location but I didn’t like having to pay for the first night due to my flight being delayed from Jersey which meant I was unable to meet my connection in Gatwick to the IOM, given the circumstances we’re outside my control I feel the manager could have been more understanding of my circumstances and not charged for that first night, but that was not the case. The music in the bar had a terrible connection and was very crackly, could be an easy fix. The scrambled eggs seemed to be sitting in water which gathered at the bottom of the tray though. There was a staff member with a long beard and long hair which had a long straggle of hair out on one side, long hair should be ALL be tied back if he is working around food, this did put me off a little.

"Very Good"

7.0

Staff at reception and in breakfast room mostly friendly and helpful, room was nicely refurbished, breakfast good and bar comfortable.

Lift tiny and old. Steep stairs made access to upper floors tricky for some. Steep steps only to access hotel (mentioned on their website - take it seriously). Carvery was only available to coach parties. Bar food not always available as advertised and very limited menu. Windows in bedroom (3rd floor) open fully so not suitable if children in room.

"Only stayed one night to catch early ferry, but staff were very friendly, and room well appointed."

9.0

Very friendly staff and perfect position on the promenade.

We had to leave before 7 a.m. breakfast to catch a ferry. i am sure we weren't the first people to do so, and it would have been good to ahve some food to take away as we had paid for breakfast.
