The staff were friendly and kind the aesthetic was lovely and the area was a nice home base. The shower and amenities were also nice. The reason I am not giving it a better review is the cooling system was awful. The room was simultaneously freezing and damp. The futon for our son was super thin. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Incredible hotel! It should be 5 stars! Very friendly staff, gave us gifts for our honeymoon. Beautiful rooms, extremely comfortable beds and we loved the bath! Its 5 mins walk from a train station. 100% recommended.

"Anywhere you stay in Kyoto is great and the Junei Kyoto is a quiet 20 min walk from most."

We liked the quiet location and while everything in the central areas were a bit of a walk or uber drive it wasn't a deal breaker.

The accomadations are nice and the staff friendly, but that is what we experienced throughout all of Japan. Therefore, we didn't think it justified the high price. Yes, you get free drinks but it's also easy to get that from a local store yourself. Most of the hotels we stayed throughout Japan was just as large and had the same amenities but the others were much cheaper per night.

Incredible staff - so helpful and kind. They helped with any restaurant recommendations and bookings without hesitation, and made sure I was okay when I wasn’t feeling well. The room itself was really spacious and clean. It felt more like a suite than hotel room. Complimentary minibar, coffee and premium teas to cap off.
