Aethos Sardinia

First the good things. The staff here are all absolutely lovely - cheerful, chatty and eager to please. The location is very good. It is less than a mile from the centre of Cannigione and the walk into town along the coastal path was one of the most enjoyable parts of our holiday. The hotel, though, has many shortcomings. It is classified as five star and room prices are very high. However, the rooms are really small (we had a deluxe with sea view) and ill-equipped, e.g., no full length mirror, no English news channels on the TV and nowhere near enough surfaces or drawers to store things. Breakfast was OK but not memorable. We had dinner in the restaurant twice and again it was mediocre and very expensive. There was evening entertainment a couple of times during our stay but evenings were generally dull. There is no Spa - unheard of for a five star hotel, although they can arrange a massage in your room, assuming they could squeeze a table into it! One thing to note is that the rooms are scattered about the site and there are many steps up and down to get to them. In summary, if this hotel was reclassified as a four star and the rooms prices drastically reduced, it would be a good choice, but as it stands, it is very poor value for money compared with the many other five star hotels we have stayed in. The hotel’s website is a masterclass in style over substance!

Nestled into the side of a hillside, the views were spectacular. The restaurant and pools were wonderful. The hotel is big enough to offer all key amenities, but small enough to feel uniquely personal and private.

We’re not quite sure what demographic the hotel was aiming towards. It clearly wasn’t the experienced traveller. There appeared to be a recent change of management because the communication at the front of house and the residents was very poor and inefficient. One example would be when quoted on transport or an activity there always an extra surcharge to be incurred and only explained at the last minute. All dining experiences needed more considered action and refining.That said the waiting staff worked very hard and were very attentive. The wine list was good. Rooms clean but small and limited views which weren’t explained. Overall - a long way to go with very little to do and poor service.

Did not benefit from breakfast or room upgrade

From the moment we entered Aethos Sardinia we felt welcomed! Refreshing fresh juice and prosecco was offered in the beautiful lobby and then we were given a brief tour of the hotel and gorgeous grounds while our car was parked and bags were brought to the room. Our room was well appointed and very comfortable overlooking one of the 2 pools and an amazing view of the sea. We were celebrating our anniversary and there was a nice note, cake, champagne, etc waiting for us. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty and all of the staff was very helpful with recommending beaches or restaurants in the area. Cannigione was a cute town and good location for exploring Sardinia. Highly recommend...you will not be disappointed!
