"Birthday treat for my aunt"

10.0

Booked into the Carnbeg Hotel in Dundalk on Mon 10/02/2020. We were delighted with our 1st impression of the hotel. We were put on the 4th floor but the wind was really bad and asked to be moved to a lower floor. The staff were brilliant. They arrived to take all our clothes etc., To the new room. We had a fantastic time. The staff in every aspect of the hotel were brilliant. I couldn't praise this hotel highly enough. I will definitely be back. Value for money just blew us away. €128 for 2 people for 2 days B&B. Fantastic. The bar staff were just couldn't help us enough. My aunt is a picky eater and doesn't eat a lot but the staff offered her that she could have a children's meal every time. I would give this hotel 5 stars on their hospitality to visitors and they bent backwards to accommodate us. A brilliant hotel that I can't wait to go back to. Oh by the way we had 2 back, shoulders and neck massages that were brilliant. The jacuzzi was down due to maintenance but the staff held back on maintenance to let my aunt use the jacuzzi. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thanks to the CARNBEG HOTEL for a lovely getaway. We will definitely be back very soon.

"A bit out of the way but worthwhile"

8.0

This is a modern hotel on the outskirts of Dundalk. My second and most recent stay here has been this week. This is a very comfortsble hotel. Very good breakfast on offer as well as competatively priced. Lovely view of Dundalk bay from some of the upper rooms. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Warning. Some rooms have communication doors to adjoining rooms. If you get a noisey neighbour, your stay may end up being more than unsatisfactory.

"If you want value for money"

8.0

This is a fine hotel which serves good tasty food. I found the bedrooms great to work in lots of space for laptop and paperwork also very comfortable and clean. My only issue with this hotel is how cold the bar/ dining area is in the evening. It is far from the town centre so there is no alternative option to walk to another bar/restaurant. Otherwise this hotel is great value for what you get.

"Nice hotel"

8.0

The hotel is in a rural location but close to Dundalk. The reception staff were very friendly. We booked three rooms, two were really nice. Mine was good but small with a single bed. The bathroom was quite small. We had lovely afternoon tea booked and later enjoyed a good dinner. It was Saturday night so there was music which was good. The breakfast was fine but there wasn't a huge selection of items.

"In need of a lot of work"

6.0

Stayed for 2 nights with my partner as needed a break after a hectic January. Hotel is very basic and in real need of an upgrade and refurb! Check in was fine and no issues there, we stayed in room 404 and the bed has to be one of the worst I’ve stayed in anywhere! I’m not a fussy person and have stayed in lot of backpacker hostels while travelling around Asia but the mattress in the Carnbeg was bad! You could feel the springs and the noise it made every time you moved too. I’ve gave 3 stars as we had spa treatments while here and this is definitely the best part about the hotel along with the pool and sauna. It was very quiet while we stayed here and we were the only people in the bar 1 night, about 10 mins drive from Dundalk town and we didn’t have dinner at the hotel although prices seemed high hence we drove into town. This hotel could be a lot better if it gets the love and attention the rooms really need, it’s more like a hotel for business people who are stopping for 1 night. Last comment on the breakfast, why don’t they offer soda and potato bread with their fry, it’s the best thing about an Irish breakfast. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again.

Went for concert and what a night, fab room tea and coffee and all you need for the long awaited shower. What a beautiful pool and spa they have. Wont be dissapointed. Staff are great and always happy. You also get a great breakfast here you would be full for the day and plenty of choices. Could not fault this Hotel and i have been in quite a few. Well done to all the staff because it is you that make it what it is. Will be back soon.

"Great family break"

8.0

We had an overnight stay for our whole family - 26 of us in total including 9 small children. The staff were really friendly, helpful and patient. We had a great meal and the evening entertainment was good craic. The swimming pool was a nice warm temperature and the spa was excellent. Only thing was that the bedrooms were a bit cold but this did not deter from our sta.
