Hotel Amic Horizonte

We had a really great experience during our stay. The rooms were very clean, and housekeeping was done every day. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a room with a beautiful balcony view of the port as a bonus, which made our stay even more special. There are several cozy relaxation areas around the hotel where you can sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The service was excellent overall. A special thank you to the reception team for taking all our wishes into account and making sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. We truly felt welcomed and well taken care of.

British Airways PMI ground handling agent South sent me here following an overnight flight delay on 30th May 2026. You wonder why, as the place is a bit of a dump, but perhaps the commission is good? It took the miserable reception staff three attempts to give me a room. My first room #110 had the patio door to the ground floor balcony unlocked. The lock was broken! The second attempt gave me room #215, which turned out to be already occupied by an irate American couple whom I woke up. If you read this review please accept my apologies! My third room #422 had a circular bed! Fortunately no mirror on the ceiling! Great view of the port. No bedside chargers. Weird in-room lights. TV u/s. Air con stuck on 21 deg with dead remote. Poor bathroom with two types of tiles where a new shower had been plumbed in! Sleep quality was poor - up until past 03h00 doors along the corridor were banging, but with no accompanying sound of a rolling suitcase. Perhaps "working ladies" with a rapid client turnover? I escaped at 07h30 for the flight home. Breakfast was good.

Looks can be deceiving with this hotel! The exterior is extremely ugly and although the hotel foyer may seem pleasant, it is clearly unfinished or poorly renovated, which should send alarm bells to all guests arriving. Upon checking in, the staff member was very confused and a little goofy. He asked me if I was ok with stairs, and I said of course, not expecting a long walk down many flights of stairs to my room, without any assistance. He didn't once offer to help with my bag, which would have been courteous. Once I arrived to my room, I realised I was pretty much underneath the pool and pool deck. I heard tremendous scratching noises above the ceiling, which I realised were the deck chairs being dragged by hotel guests and staff all day and early in the mornings, across the concrete tiles. Very unacceptable. The room itself was poorly finished. The paint work was dreadful and the state of the bathroom was awful. Clearly a recent makeover was done, but poorly executed. The shower curtain was discoloured, the grout was black in places, the toilet lid was marked, and the bathroom door was severely water damaged. As for the decor of the room, the blue vinyl on the bed head was dreadful, and the rest of the furniture in the room was awful. The wardrobe was damaged and was missing it's doors. The outside of the window needed extensive cleaning. And the old fridge, which was not plugged in, was discoloured on the inside and had a hole in the door. The pool deck looked ok, but once you looked closer,it was rusting in many places and the overhead hazards were unacceptable.

Some of the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful.

I found the in-hotel restaurant was a little mid.
