Didn’t get the chance to like anything about it

Hello, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a terrible experience I had on September 27, 2025 at the Super 8 Motel in Gilman, Illinois. I prepaid $156 for a non-refundable reservation through Booking.com. The payment was successfully processed and cleared before my arrival, and I had proof of payment in hand. Upon arrival, the front desk clerk — whose name was Gary — refused to check me in, repeatedly claiming my card was declined even though the reservation was already fully paid. I showed him my confirmation and payment status, and Booking.com support even called the property to confirm the payment. Gary hung up on the Booking.com representative during the call and continued to deny me access to the room. The situation escalated further when Gary threatened to call the police on me and my guest if we did not leave the lobby. We were never aggressive or disrespectful — we simply wanted the room I had already paid for. Ultimately, Booking.com had to refund my money and cancel the reservation. However, this completely ruined a special night I had planned, and the way we were treated was humiliating, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I am requesting that Wyndham conduct a full investigation into this incident, review the conduct of the staff at this location, and take appropriate action against the employee involved. Additionally, I would like confirmation that this complaint is on record and that steps will be taken to ensure future guests are not treated this way. Hotel smelled of mildew when walking in the building and the rooms as well. Pillows flat. Beds uncomfortable. Water pressure was horrible. Breakfast was horrible. Nothing in town but gas and some fast food. Definitely worth going else where
