"Unusual stay"

Our 1st rooms had a strong smoke smell, but front desk was very helpful and able to get us rooms without the smoke smell. Had a tornado warning while we where there and we had to shelter in downstairs hall. Lost electric to our room, and hotel had no backup generator. Breakfast was subpar.

"In Need of Improvement"

Overall, I was disappointed in this hotel as it doesn’t match the description on the website and the experience is not commensurate with the price I paid. Our room appeared clean on the surface, but had a bad odor during our entire two night stay. The rooms are dated. The towels and bedding were worn and there was a cigarette burn on the bedspread. The night clerk who checked us in wasn’t the least bit friendly. The breakfast selection was scant. The fitness center was essentially a closet with a treadmill in it that did not look like it worked. I didn’t enter that area as it was filthy. The whirlpool is not working and the mold makes the entire pool area seem unappealing.

"Good value. "

Good value for the price. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel and neighborhood were quiet. The breakfast buffet had hot and cold options. Rooms and common areas were clean. The rooms are definitely dated and the furniture in the suites are showing age. The TV’s provided had very small screens, which made watching from the couch or bed a challenge.

"Typically good Americinn"

I always look forward to staying at Americans when available. In this instance, the whirlpool/hot tub was broken, but I was given an upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi. Bed slept very comfortably, the AC was quietly efficient, and the break fast was decent. All in all, a good stay.

"Americinn Kewannee "

Stay was good. No problems. We just stayed one night but that was our plan from the outset. You have to visit Bishop Hill.
