The Alexandra Hotel

Most of the building is a homeless shelter and you'll find people hanging outside the entrance/parking lot at all hours of the day. Some are people going through a hard time, others are less stable. The staff is friendly but not particularly helpful. My room had a strong cigarette smell and I was advised to open the window and turn on a fan. I ended up just having to deal with it till the end of my stay. The room also didn't feel clean, especially the bed and towels in the bathroom. The room itself is a very basic hotel room, with a small kitchenette. Nothing fancy but for the price would be considered fine. Given the location in downtown Toronto and its proximity to major tourist attractions, this should be an easy 3 or 4 rating for its price. But with all the issues listed above, I wouldn't rate it higher than a 1.5.

L’emplacement, l’accueil. L’hôtel était conforme aux étoiles indiquées.

On voyait le jour autour de l’unité de l’air climatisé et on ne pouvait pas contrôler la température, le bouton de contrôle étant absent contrairement à ce qui était annoncé. Et malheureusement, attroupement d’itinérants ( jour et nuit) dans le stationnement de l’hôtel.

Not a place I’d stay with family; however, for single travellers looking for basic accommodation this was perfect. It was clean/safe with +++friendly staff.
