Enotel Sunset Bay

Estacionamento. Apesar de se apresentar como "estacionamento gratuito" houve um dia que o parque estava cheio. Ora só conseguimos verificar o estado deste depois de entrar. No interior a manobra para virar o carro para sair resulta ser dificil, pondo em causa quer a nossa viatura quer a dos restantes.

Das Hotel liegt direkt an der alten Küstenstraße. Die Aussicht aus dem Zimmer war ein Traum. Da die Straße keine Durchgangsstraße mehr ist, ist es eigentlich ruhig. Die Zimmer sind groß, freundlich und sauber, inkl. des Bades. Die Terrasse auf dem Dach ist eine gute Idee, der Pool inkl. Sauna/Dampfbad ist neben der Rezeption. - Ungewöhnlich, aber völlig ok. Der Pool ist angenehm temperiert und ausreichend Liegen waren auch vorhanden. Die Tiefgarage selber ist ok, die Zufahrt passt halt zu den Straßen auf Madeira, teilweise eng, aber machbar. (Wir hatten einen Nissan Juke) Das Frühstück ist dort ein High-Light. Große Auswahl, alles wird frisch nachgelegt und schmeckt super. Das Personal ist präsent, nimmt aber einem nicht schon den Teller unter der Gabel weg. So dass man in Ruhe frühstücken kann, sich aber nicht das Geschirr irgendwo stapelt. Abends noch ein Bier oder Cocktail an der Hotelbar ist gemütlich möglich, grade wenn einem die umliegenden Kneipen dann doch zu laut sind. (Die sind auf der Straße hinter dem Hotel, daher am Hotel nicht zu hören.)

Die Sonnenterasse dient wohl auch als Raucherbereich. Der Bereich der Sitzmöbel unter einem Pavillon wird von den Rauchern schon mal eingenebelt und auch im Bereich der Liegen bleibt man nicht unbedingt verschont. - Wäre schön, wenn dort Rauchverbot wäre. Für die Raucher wäre der Weg vor das Haus auch nicht länger und oben auf der Terrasse wäre nur die Seeluft.

We had a comfortable stay, the staff were friendly always and definitely benefitted from the underground parking available to guests. The breakfast buffet was varied with a large selection. What a treat. Also due to immediate access to the sea, we enjoyed the salty air. The room (in our case two rooms...) was exceedingly clean, as in no hair in the shower, no soap marks, and no smoke residue. Sheets were crisp and fresh and the beds firm. Also I found the room to be slightly larger than average for a Studio.

At check-in we weren't provided the correct room, until we inquired about what the balcony looks like (we selected a balcony with our room). This was sorted out by another member of staff around an hour after our arrival, with proof from our booking confirmation email to substantiate our claim. Secondly, the coffee at the breakfast buffet dispensed from the machines was terrible. Just don't. The bar fridge in our room was not cold, and being built inside the cupboard it produced much heat, to the point that we left the door open to assist with refrigeration. It didn't help much to keep a wine bottle cold.
