"Disappointing Stay at Nutmeg Bed and Breakfast"

4.0

Disappointing Stay at Nutmeg Bed and Breakfast Unfortunately, my stay at Nutmeg Bed and Breakfast in Wilmington was not what I had hoped for, especially after paying almost $250 for one night. While the hosts were somewhat polite, but weren’t outwardly friendly unfortunately, the service from them was mediocre at best. The overall experience left much to be desired. The room itself was in poor condition — there were visible nails sticking out of the walls, as if pictures had been removed but never replaced or patched, leaving the space feeling unfinished and neglected. The carpet was noticeably dirty, which detracted from any sense of comfort or cleanliness. And the furniture was scratched up, lending itself to second hand furniture from a garage sale Although breakfast was advertised as included, there were unexpected charges: $4 extra if you wanted fruit or yogurt. This felt misleading, especially at a bed and breakfast where a hearty, inclusive meal is typically part of the charm. I got the feeling that the property is financially suffering. Maybe they recently got bought? With the up charge on breakfast and you couldn’t even bring your own beer or glass of wine in your room. You had to buy their alcohol or not have anything of your own to relax at the end of your day Overall, the property could benefit from better maintenance and more transparency around what is and isn’t included. I had hoped for a cozy and welcoming Vermont experience but left very disappointed I personally would take your $250 and spend it elsewhere.

"Not Your Grandma's B&B"

10.0

I originally wrote and posted this review for the wrong Nutmeg Inn . . . We booked this inn for a last minute trip to Mt. Snow, and it was an enomously pleasant surprise. The building has been gorgeously restored and updated, and the interior design is beautiful-- super quaint and charming combined with some mid-century and contemporary touches throughout--this isn't your grandma's b&b, all in a good way. There are several rooms to hang out in, all with beautiful light, including a room with a large work space/desk with chargers, etc. Also, f you are headed skiing, take-out breakfast can be pre-ordered and is available as early as 7am. We were mightily impressed. Read less

Location was close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough to be nice and quiet. Our room was nice but the “fire place” was pitiful. A nice gas flame would have been better. Breakfast was delicious. More choices would have been great. The cook was more congenial than the owners. Owners were pretty reclusive. The advertisement stated the property had daily housekeeping. This is one reason we chose The Nutmeg. There was NO daily housekeeping service, and that was very disappointing. We would have loved coming back to our room finding it serviced and tidied up. If The Nutmeg does not offer that, they need to change their description.

The Nutmeg was one of our best finds in VT. Our host Shelly was caring, efficient, kind and hospitable. The Inn has easy sitting rooms for quiet time, game time or admiring her art and fresh flowers. Our Rooms were on the first floor and spacious. Breakfast was superb, healthy and farm fresh. We will be back.

"Nice snowmobiling weekend "

Everyone was very friendly and the accommodations were perfect. We were able to access the VAST trail right from the property. Unfortunately, we slept through breakfast but I can tell you that the entire Inn smelled fabulous!
