Unbeatable location with amazing views. Complementary Prosecco upon arrival was a nice touch. Breakfast was also lovely. Highly recommended!

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in...deserves to be 5 star. We booked this via Crystal Ski for our recent skiing holiday in Grindelwald and had no preconceptions as we hadnt really read up on it. From start to finish this hotel surpassed everything and deserves every star it holds. As we had a lot of ski equipment the hotel shuttle collected us from the station and upon arrival we were met by two reception staff ( Mario and Sam who was new to the job and in training ) but a smooth checkin as were his first checkin ! Given drink vouchers, maps, keycards, vouchers for travel you name it and then found our room. we were on the 3rd floor in the side of the hotel overlooking the village. What a room, spacious, modern, a ton of storage (which was handy ), loads of ameneties, a fab coffee machine, together with a min bar stocked full. Lovely balcony where we sat out most morning with a coffee. Large bathroom with the best shower ever, hot water, spotless and everything provided. Beds were typical alpine twins and very comfortable. I wrote a note to housekeeping as we like two pillows each and extra coffee as we are coffee mad and they duly supplied extra milk, coffee and pillows with no fuss. The staff everywhere, be it at breakfast ( more on that later ), reception, bar, restaurant were just superb and faultless. The staff are always the face of the hotel and the management should be duly proud of their staff. The bar/lounge area is just perfect, large open fire which was lit every evening with bar staff so attentive and as the weather was great we could sit outside and enjoy the evening sun with them bringing out drinks and snacks. Lovely seating inside with rocking chairs and enough furs on seats so it made it so cosy. The breakfast area is to die for, sitting next to the window with that view of the mountains never got old and I doubt you will find that view anywhere else in the world. The food often got cold as we were too busy staring at the view :) Breakfast selection is large and catered for everyone and had an egg station where he would whisk up whatever you needed. As we were half board we dined every night in the restaurant and althopugh my wife is a fussy veggie, they catered for her needs even with a set menu. We even chose the outside chalet to have cheese fondue one night which was extra but we were waited on by our own waiter who looked us and it is a must do experience. Sitting there in your own private dining chalet is so much fun. On holiday it was my birthday and we never told the staff but as I had some birthday cards to open I left them on the side when we went out skiing and upon our return there was a card from the hotel, a plate all decorated with happy Birthday and a cake ! I can only imagine that the housekeeping had noticed the cards and informed reception...amazing and so appreciated. The location for skiing is spot on, opposite the First Gondola station and so you can be on the mountain skiing in a matter of minutes and if you prefer to go to the eiger express or other mountaisn, the bus stop for Number 121 bus is directly opposite the hotel. On our departure the checkout again was smooth sailing and they arranged the shuttle to take us to Grindewald station. This hotel deserves every star it holds and then some. I strongly recommend you stay here, regardless if it is a summer break or for skiing. Oh and one last thing, your door card is also access to the heated ski room... perfection. We shall be back !!
