Sunstar Hotel & SPA Grindelwald

What can I say, other than we had an absolutely wonderful time. We went to Grindelwald to celebrate the New Year, and it was a fantastic experience. Having somewhere wonderful to stay even more memorable. Great hotel, excellent staff, beautiful scenery, nothing was ever too much for staff, one ask and our requests were met. Rooms were tidy and warm, housekeeping were excellent, as were the front desk. We booked with breakfast included, and breakfast catered for everyone including choice of milk. The hotel was great value for what we had paid. We even went to nose at another hotel we were going to book [it shall stay unnamed] more money but it did look rather tired when we visited it and in total it worked out a fair bit more than the Sunstar. The hotel is in a great location not in the middle of Grindelwald only a five minute walk. I can't say that we heard any noise from late night revellers on new year's night.

Das Personal war immer sehr hilfsbereit und seh nett. Alles war sauber und der Wellnessbereich und das Frühstück beides fantastisch.

Poor meal in Restaurant

No sleep for the first three night - high pitched wining noise. Reported to reception and heard nothing back. Fought for a room change after three nights of no sleep and on my final night it was better. ALSO I booked the transfer bus to pick me up by the hotel forgot. After waiting 39 minutes in the snow. There was no answer when the train station phoned then, but they eventually replied to an email. Due to these issues I had to cut my skiing short. This hotel has good facilities and a good location but there is no customer service and repairs do not get fixed. Offered no compensation when asked.

Hotel lift was well programed - since it's small, it doesn't stop along the way, it just serves one group at a time. Location was right across First Bahn.

I hated the beds and the pillows. Atrocious. I can normally sleep anywhere but pillows were shockingly bad and beds were hard. Would never stay there again because of that.

Nice spa, with very nice facilities but ridiculous rules - the nicest part of the spa is “textile free” which we understand to be that there will be people naked (that’s fine) however, since we’re not comfortable getting naked in front of our friends we kept our swimsuits, under our towels (towels are allowed). We kept getting the people that work there telling us that they could see our swimsuits under our towels, and we must remove our swimsuits or leave… when we asked why, “those are the rules”… totally ridiculous
