NH Collection Bogota WTC Royal

I think this is the favorite hotel I've been in. Great rooms, close by convenience stores, and a wide variety of local restaurants. The food in the hotel was great and they gave us a good compensation in service due to some issues outside the control from the hotel staff.

My room was close to my ideal hotel room, except that I would have been happy with something a little smaller! There were huge windows with an interesting view, a nice desk, some very nice chairs (two for the desk plus an easy chair), and a decent ensuite bathroom. The hotel as a whole was also nice enough, as were the staff. The area was also excellent, with plenty of very nice cafes and restaurants and a whole street of banks with ATMs. I booked this hotel because I wanted to start my travels in Colombia in a safe, upmarket part of town. I also had some business to finish off via Zoom, so I wanted a reliable internet connection. This hotel was perfect for both those things.

The gym was about what you get for a hotel gym (small), but the sauna looked like it hadn't been used for years and when I asked about it I was told you need to pay extra, which I'm not sure had been clear on the Booking.com page. In general, I feel like this place had lots of traps set for tourists from rich countries. I drank a bottle of water in the minibar on my first night and it ended up costing me 10 pounds, although the price was on the list and I should have looked it up rather than assuming it would be reasonably priced. The laundry service was also borderline extortionate, although of course you don't have to use that service either. The hotel restaurant also looked very expensive to me, although the room service seemed reasonable. So my advice would simply be to be very careful about add-ons: check the price first and don't assume you'll be charged local prices.
