Wingate by Wyndham Bentonville

During my yearly visits to see my parents, I usually stay at this hotel the night before I fly home. The hotel is only a mile from XNA and they have a free shuttle to the airport that runs every 20 minutes. Be sure to sign up for the shuttle when you check in because they do check that they have the correct number of people before they depart for the airport. I had to wait a few minutes to check in as the woman at the front desk was on the phone booking a reservation for another customer. Check-in was relatively painless and I signed up for both a wake up call and the shuttle while I was there. I immediately went to my room, but on the way I saw that both the pool and the fitness room had reopened since my last visit. Sadly, they are still only working with one elevator. My room was halfway down the hall from the elevator, which meant I didn’t have to deal with as much noise as I have on previous trips. The room looked pretty much the same as the rooms always do and the bathroom was still in need of a major renovation. I did note some cobwebs in one corner of the room near the bed, but I didn’t let it bother me. I slept relatively well, considering I had to get up so early for my flight. I did get my wake up call and I lucked out that the shuttle was able to take me and the other person who had signed up to the airport a few minutes early. I am happy that they are slowly making some improvements, but they really gotta do something about the bathrooms.

Breakfast was excellent. Full, hot breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, gravy, oatmeal, grits, toast/bagels/english muffins, danish, cold cereal, milk, waffles and more!! Fantastic stuff! The staff was very polite, friendly, and accommodating.

The gym could use more weight training equipment, and a little less cardio equipment. And the showers could use a shelf to hold toothbrushes, razors, and toothpaste. ALSO...THE SHOWERS ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AS THEY HAVE NO NON-SLIP MATS OR SURFACES ON THEM. That is a huge safety issue and a massive liability for the company!

This is my go to location when I travel in or out of XNA. Rooms are clean. Staff is well-versed and communicates very well.
