Graystone Lodge, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Clean and comfortable and the breakfast was the best ever at a hotel! So much to choose from and polite staff. The pool looks beautiful but we didn’t use it. Boone is a stunning area.

Pool was clean. Room was clean. Facility was amazing. The breakfast was great with so many options. The room felt alittle small and we would have liked a more scenic location but overall this was a wonderful place to stay. The warm cookies were a huge hit with the kids.

Rooms felt small but manageable. And the bathroom had peeling paint. Nothing that was huge deal breakers for us.

The lodge was clean, modern, and the room and bathroom were both a decent size. The staff was friendly, and I appreciated the good breakfast every morning, along with the always available warm coffee and tea in the lobby. They also offered warm cookies upon arrival, which was a nice touch. The pool area also looked very nice and clean, although I didn’t get a chance to use it. The location was very convenient, within walking distance to a shopping center that had a Thai restaurant, a grocery store, and several other businesses. There were also many places to eat within a short driving distance, which made it easy to find different dining options during our stay. The lodge was also close to Blowing Rock, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Grandfather Mountain, making it a good base for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Boone itself is a pretty basic town with a small shopping mall, a nice university atmosphere, and a good variety of restaurants. The main issue during our stay was the hot water. For most of the trip, the shower water kept going from hot to warm and then cold. When I first mentioned it to the front desk, one of the employees explained that the lodge had two water heaters and that when there were many guests, the water temperature could fluctuate. I found that explanation a bit unusual since I’ve never experienced that before, and I wish the issue had been addressed properly the first time I mentioned it. Unfortunately, taking cold showers for 3 days in cold weather took away a lot of the comfort and enjoyment to the stayed. The day before we left, I went back to the front desk and a different employee immediately contacted maintenance. They discovered there was actually a problem with one of the water heaters, and after that the issue was fixed. I appreciated that she took the concern seriously and resolved it quickly. Another small downside was that the room did not have a comfortable chair. Despite the hot water issue, the lodge was clean, comfortable, and had several nice amenities with friendly staff.

Very clean. Staff was welcoming. Coffee and cookies in lobby. Grandchildren loved the pool. We loved the lounge chairs and oversized pool towels. Breakfast was very good. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was well stocked.

The shower glass door configuration requires standing in the shower to reach the controls, resulting in an icy blast or getting soaked when trying to help a child.

Great experience as first time guests! !!! Kat( (front desk) is a tremendous asset to the Graystone Family! She went over and beyond and exceeded our expectations. Breakfast hostess and host were outstanding and kept the flow of breakfast smooth !!! Our room attendant extraordinaire was. Impeccable in her preparation of our room for our stay. This is how an operation should be run! Kudos to all and see you on our next trip to Boone!
