La Cala Resort

The standards of excellence remain the same throughout. The food, the facilities, the staff all demonstrate a level of pride that perpetuates a sparkling reputation. We will return !

Probably the most spectacular course I have ever played and some of the tee shots are a real treat and the greens were excellent. The course does not play that long off the Yellow tee's and the Par 5's are quite reachable in 2 with a decent tee shot. There had been some heavy rain the night and morning before we played and the course was in reality unplayable in parts due to flooding and standing water on fairways and most of the bunkers and based on experience anywhere else the course would have been closed. It was also pretty unsafe in the buggies coming down the paths and more than once we lost control due to the wet conditions. The fairways were also very slippery underfoot and at one point I felt it safer to walk down a hill than sit in the buggy and then slipped and slid about 20 meters before I could stop myself. My playing partners enjoyed this immensely but I unfortunately did not enjoy getting covered in muck and destroying my clothes. The other significant issue we encountered was the pace of play and it took 3 hours to complete the front nine with no sign of any course marshall and there was also another group who decided to play music from their buggies as they were going around. It should be a treat to play here given the layout, facilities and scenery but on this occasion it fell a bit short and it was hard to escape the sense that it was more quantity than quality that was the main focus.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was gorgeous and everything / everywhere was so clean. The resort was lovely.

The gym could be better. Bigger, new equipment.

Absolutely outstanding in every way. All 3 courses were in great condition with lots of variety. Each member of the hotel staff was warm and friendly and the food in both the steakhouse and clubhouse was excellent and reasonably priced Now looking at when to book for next year!

Maria " made" our breakfast to the best start of the day we could wish....Always smiling, complete controll, nice small talk Every restaurant in the world should wish they had " One Maria" in the staff.

What a wonderful hotel this is . Absolutely spotless and so relaxing . From the moment we walked through the door we were blown away with the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff . The room was spacious and we had a beautiful view . The food was fabulous in all the restaurants . We played golf in the 3 courses and we were not disappointed beautifully maintained and the greens were excellent . The Spa is a real treat . Special shout out to Maria in Breakfast Monica in reception and Pablo who made our stay memorable. Thank you . Can’t wait to be back next year !!!

Review (refined version): Our stay at La Cala Golf Resort was exceptional from start to finish. We arrived midday on 5th September and, although we were a little early, Paco at reception was wonderfully accommodating. Within the hour he called to let us know our room was ready — and it was superb. We played all three courses, each in outstanding condition, and had access to the bar buggy service throughout our stay, which was a great touch. The customer service across the entire resort was second to none; every member of staff was friendly and welcoming. The clubhouse team were especially kind, and the food and drink there were excellent. We only ventured into Mijas twice during our five nights because everything we needed was right at the resort. Honestly, it would be hard to find a better golf destination on the Costa del Sol. For us, it’s a definite 10/10.
