ANA Crowne Plaza Resort Okinawa Uruma Hills By IHG

Nestled on the top of hill, fresh air and breezy wherever you’re taking a walk surrounding the hotel. Staff were superb! Had a minor issue where one of the bed corners caused a deep scratched and room changed were offered immediately, we saw staff members who went to fix the corners of the bed where incident took place at the same time when we were moving out. Pool was kids friendly too, we love the hot tub (onsen) within the hotel too.

Great hospitality by hotel staff, friendly and prompt in responding to our needs. We had a minor setback with the room fixtures, sharp corners of our bed frame scratched one of us and they immediately changed our room after receiving feedback.

Staff were super helpful and friendly. Breakfast/lunch was a yummy buffet with a huge variety.

This new IHG property in Okinawa was complete surprise! Located away from the hustle and bustle of Naha, the ANA Crowne Plaza Resort Uruma Hills is an oasis in itself. Some other reviewers have mentioned that it is out of the way and not close to anything, I think if you have access to a vehicle you wont find this an issue at all. The rooms were clean and well appointed, and I slept so well. All the staff I engaged with during my stay were extremely helpful and accomodating. The breakfast buffet had an excellent selection. As summer is coming the swimming pool looked really inviting. I have to say, the onsite gym was outstanding!! Perfect for my long stay.

Staff at ANA were fantastic. They were always very pleasant and helpful during our week long stay. The buffet breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold foods, and being in a remote area it was good to have this included in our room rate. The property is a bit remote which was nice being away from the hustle and bustle, but it made exploring the area a little trickier - we had to plan our days carefully and there wasn’t the ability to just go for a wander as we’d do if staying in a more central location. The gym facilities and sauna were also really well equipped. The pool was clean and relaxing (although VERY shallow - do not dive in!) and the lifeguards by the pool were very attentive to pool users. The lobby area and dining areas were always very clean, and check in/out was easy. The room itself (1 bedroom with tatami area) was an ok size for 4 (2 adults and 2 teens) but we probably would have been more comfortable in a 2 bedroom apartment. The room appeared clean and well stocked.

Upon arrival into our room I noticed a very strong damp smell. I understand in a humid climate it would be difficult to avoid this. However the smell was very strong. I couldn’t really see any obvious signs of mildew or mould so didn’t think much of it. However, over the first few days I noticed when I was in the room my skin felt really hot and my sinuses and lungs would become irritated. I would often wake at night feeling tight in the chest. When I would go out for the day I would gradually improve but upon returning to the hotel I would become irritated again. I get this same irritation from a damp workshop in my workplace and have had to install air purifiers. After 3 or 4 days of this I wondered if it could be a mould issue causing the irritation. I then started noticing the build up of moisture dripping from the air vents in the room, the condensation on windows was insane and there were definitely black mould spots on the ceiling right above the bed. I considered asking to change rooms but didn’t as I figured it would be a problem throughout the hotel. I also considered moving to a different hotel, but being Golden Week everything that was available was super expensive. So we stuck it out and just tried to be out of the room as much as possible. By the last 2 days I was coughing a lot, skin still burning and itchy eyes. 6 days later I still have a terrible chesty cough and sinusitis. I don’t have any other symptoms of cold or flu and I’m pretty confident this is from the damp in the room. I am more susceptible to respiratory issues so this probably doesn’t help. If you have asthma or respiratory issues I’d suggest not staying here. Just in case. The rest of my family were fine, although they don’t suffer from the same health conditions as me, so they thought it was pretty good and enjoyed their stay. Their main complaint was the remoteness of the hotel - we had a hire car and I was the only licensed driver.

On the last night they started to renovate the room below at 23:00 I called the desk a few times and they said deal with it. It was only after I pushed strongly that the gave me a different room... To get some sleep!

The room was spacious, clean, and had everything I needed. The view from the hotel was beautiful, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was great, offering both Japanese and Western options.

The location is beautiful, but it’s a bit remote. It takes at least a 20-minute drive to reach the nearest towns for dining out since the hotel is situated on top of the hills.
