Hotel Madam Mirei

location close to the ski slope. cheap Japanese meals. Hotel guests are mostly Japanese (polite and respectful).

the public bathroom. it might be ok for people coming from the culture where public bath is common. but for people who needs some privacy you need to prepare to be butt naked with other people splashing water next to you. probably that's why i only see one white guy during my stay.

Masa and the staff at Hotel Madam Mirei were so lovely! They helped us feel very welcome and ensured we had all we needed. The room was sufficient and wonderfully warm after a day in the snow. The hot pot dinner they provide in the restaurant is exceptional and delicious too! The snow gear and boards were all in great condition and they supplied everything we needed to go snowboarding/skiing on the slopes at the hotel. Good value for money and would definitely come back here again next time we're in Madarao.

The showers are completely open and shared public rooms with no private cubicles which was a new experience, but it was fun/unique. You can have some privacy if you go outside the busy hours, and the facilities work great.

Nice hosts, close to the ski hill.
