Movenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai

The hotel has an excellent central location close to the night market and main attractions. The staff are very friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. I was also kindly upgraded to another room upon arrival, which was highly appreciated after a long day riding my motorcycle and arriving late. The overall ambience is pleasant, and the price of around $59 per night offers good value.

The hotel is quite outdated and in need of renovation, especially in the bathrooms where silicone sealings are worn and poorly maintained. Cleanliness in detailed areas could be improved, as this is a key standard for any hotel. The dinner buffet was average, and the live music was somewhat squeaky. Pool service was slow, even for simple orders, and the pool area is under-equipped, with too few lounge chairs. Overall, the property would benefit from a proper retrofit and modernization.

I had some concerns about staying here as the reviews are very mixed, firstly the location is fantastic, you would struggle to find a better located hotel. Check in was smooth and we received an upgrade to a suite which was appreciated, the room was clean however it is quite dated, the bathroom had a few broken tiles, that said everything that can be done without a full renovation has been done, the bed had a new mattress, all linen and towels were also brand new. We had breakfast at the hotel each day and were very happy with the quality and variety on offer, there is also an egg station so you can order your eggs how you like them. the hotel does have a swimming pool and a small gym, the gym is small but functional, the pool area is not conducive of sitting around and the water temp was quite cold, the small bonus is that the pool are does have a bar which was staffed despite there only being 2 people in the pool area. as a platinum member we were also invited to drinks and canapes from 5.30 to 7.30, Khun Kao who served us was fantastic and made us very welcome, the sparkling wine was one of the nicest I have had for a while, there was not a great selection of food which to be honest I was grateful about as I did not want to spoil the great food available locally. the hotel also has a tour desk which we did utilise, they were friendly and efficient. if you are expecting Movenpick quality you will be disappointed, that said it is not priced at Movenpick prices and you do get what you pay for Over all we had a great stay and would definitely return,

Lovely hotel with fantastic staff, very clean, room nice size , coffee/tea in room except milk , could have done with milk as don’t drink black tea & coffee. Bed ok , pillows a bit hard for me but that’s personal preference, bathroom nice with shampoo, body wash etc , telly worked . Love the light switches next to bed ! Pool area ok with nice clean pool . Nice man serving drinks, and nice to have a spot to have a cigarette. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice , as was the buffet evening meals , thought this was excellent value with nice choice of tasty food . The complementary chocolate between 4.00 &5.00 was absolutely lovely!!Thank you! Also thank you for my birthday card & cake ! Very much appreciated! This is a lovely comfortable hotel with amazing staff that are very attentive 10 out of 10! Its location is good with night markets just outside & lots of bars & shops . Would highly recommend and return.

Hôtel tout à fait agréable. Chambres spacieuse, propre. Emplacement optimal à côté de tout (restaurants, etc). Service plutôt bon. Globalement expérience positive.

Petit déjeuner moyen, assez répétitif avec des produit de qualité moyenne (on pourrait s'attendre à une qualité plus élevée pour une chaîne d'hôtel qui a gardé malgré tout le nom de Mövenpick (c'était en général une garantie de qualité). La piscine plutôt petite, mais surtout l'aménagement de l'espace piscine n'est pas du tout satisfaisant: il n'y avait que 2 transats à disposition, ni plus ni moins, pour s'allonger et autour 2 canapés en osier et quelques chaises et tables, alors que l'hôtel accueille de très nombreux clients qui aimeraient sans doute s'allonger à la piscine ! La seul alternative, se mettre au sol...

Best location in the city

Duvet on the bed,was of poor quality and made with artificial fibre. This causes you to wake up in a pool of sweat several times a night. Hotel needs refreshing.

Mövenpick Suriwongse Chiang Mai is a great choice for travelers who want to stay in the center of the city while still enjoying a comfortable and relaxing hotel environment. The location is excellent — within walking distance of Chiang Mai’s famous Night Bazaar, markets, restaurants, and cultural spots. I stayed in the Executive Suite, which was spacious and well designed with a separate living area. The room felt very comfortable, with plenty of natural light and enough space to relax after exploring the city. One of the highlights was the Mövenpick Chocolate Hour, which takes place in the afternoon. Guests can enjoy a selection of chocolates inspired by the brand’s original Swiss recipes — a small but very enjoyable touch. Dining was also a pleasant surprise. Breakfast at Fuengfah Restaurant offers a wide international selection, and dinner at Le Bistro & Terrace was one of the best meals I had during my stay in Chiang Mai. Overall, Mövenpick Suriwongse offers a great balance of location, comfort, and classic hospitality in the heart of Chiang Mai.
