Rija Old Town Hotel

The location was great for getting around Old Town and very peaceful. Bonus: my room had a great view of a church.

Room was a bit small.

I appreciated that the staff arranged an alternate hotel for us when they could not honor our reservation. They moved us to Rixwell Savoy Boutique Hotel, which they described as a 4-star hotel, and they also covered the taxi cost to get us there. That effort was appreciated.

This was still a very frustrating experience. After an hour and a half of navigating buses and then walking another 10 minutes with baggage, we arrived exhausted only to be told they could not honor our reservation, despite it being booked back in January. We were extremely disappointed. The staff mentioned they had tried to call me, but as an international traveler, I had my phone roaming turned off for calls and texts. An email would have been a much better way to reach me to let me know of the hotel change. While I appreciated the alternative arrangements, having to change hotels after such a long travel day was stressful and not the experience we expected after planning so far in advance.

Needs a fan in the room.
