Homewood Suites by Hilton Wallingford-Meriden

Stayed at Hilton for 1 week. Amenities were okay, but after getting home I asked why my stay did not accumulate my Hilton Honors points. I was advised that I need to book directly through Hilton - because I used Priceline, my points would not be given to me. WHY?? I chose to stay at Hilton - I could have stayed with Marriott! Never will stay again! The nightly rate wasn't any different than what I would have received had I booked directly.

Great staff. We've stayed often and it is always clean and neat. One-bedroom suite is comfortable and good size.

Saturday night cost was double what we normally pay!

This hotel is older and at one time was updated BUT it is run down. Starting with our room .. Cleanliness 2.5 Bed cover was nasty - snagged and the quilt under the cover had blood spots on it .. yuck Curtains are snagged and need to be replaced Most of the furniture looks worn Mattress was uncomfortable.. kept turning all night since my hips started aching. I don’t want to find or see other people’s hair, which I found.. and also dog hair. Upon entering the room we had to request a box of Kleenex and papertowels that were almost empty. If hotels would focus on all details.. it makes a big difference.. as a guest we notice even the minor details.. starting with the elevator.. if the floor is dirty that starts the first impression. Not sure why this hotel was rated so high by others.. it needs a lot of room updates, including common areas.
