Help with luggage up the stairs would be an asset

I am so disappointed by this property. I was travelling with a group of 8, 6 of whom have mobility limitations. I have been to Mt. St. Michel before and know about the challenges they would face. I talked at LENGTH with the property about the booking to ensure that our group would have the 3 rooms on the main floor so that there was a minimum of steps that the seniors with mobility restrictions I was travelling with would have to contend with. I made the reservation 9 months in advance, and called back a few times to make sure that the mobility restrictions were understood. When we arrived, they had given all but 1 of the main floor rooms that we had reserved away to other guests. This meant that people with mobility issues (and who have disability cards) had to climb several flights of stairs in addition to the ones that they knew about. This is so disappointing. One room was switched hours before we arrived because someone complained. So instead of stating that (as was written in the notes) there was a person with disabilities destined for that room, they switched them so my nearly 80 year old mother had to climb another three flights of stairs! In speaking with reception, the file was 'clearly marked they had disabilities so he didn't know what happened'. If you are a traveller with disabilities beware, they will change out your room to someone without a disability if they complain about the stairs and it will make your journey worse. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The people working the front desk were helpful and friendly. Out room (facing street) was a little shabby, and the bathroom has a strong vinegar smell. The thing that was strange was we saw lots of flies in the hallway. Why? We noticed there were bags of garbage there, maybe collected from other places and delivered at that location.

Staff neither helpful nor friendly. Our room was very noisy and in a quite poor condition.

The hotel is in need of updating. The bathroom in our room appeared to be remodeled which was nice, although the shower was clogged. The bed linens were clean and the room relatively decent. The carpets in the rest of the hotel appeared to be from the 1980s and there were piles of bags of what looked like dirty linens piled up in every corner around the staircases. The lobby area was also in dire need of updating. Other than that, the setting was of course lovely.

Long before we left Sydney I booked 2 rooms for my husband and I and our French friends (a couple) at Les Terrasses Poulard. We stayed there recently, in May 2024 and when we booked in we were asked to pay in advance so unfortunately we paid before seeing the rooms. Big mistake! . We were all shocked as the rooms were very small with not enough room to walk around the bed when a suitcase was on the floor. The blinds were filthy. Our friend's room had one very small window so high up it felt like a prison!! They were disgusted and have since written to the prefecture which is the controlling body who is responsible for overseeing the standard of hotel rooms in the Mont St Michel area. The price was equivalent to that of a 3 star hotel and our rooms certainly didn't meet this standard. We complained to the hotel staff and interestingly they reacted as if they had heard it all before. Why would they care as there will be more tourists passing through tomorrow to visit the beautiful Mont St Michel and probably few repeat bookings. Please beware of this hotel and I think there are quite a few other hotels on the Mount which are owned by 'Poulard'.

One complain is that they advertise free offsite parking which is not true. The offsite parking is $20 per day.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Room was far away from reception up the hill then 2 steep staircases down to a basement room filled with mosquitos. No WIFI no Internet No telephone working. The outside stank of standing water so couldn’t open windows as even more mosquitos would come in. We spent the night in a sweat box. When we complained we were fobbed off with no acknowledgement of our discomfort. Don’t spend the night at mont st Michel. Just go for the day. This is the biggest rip off we’ve ever experienced

Lots of steps but totally worth it to be there at night when the crowds are gone.
