Galle Fort Hotel

This is a beautiful, historic, boutique hotel, perfectly situated inside the Galle fort. The characterful bar is a special feature. Breakfasts were very good, and served in a relaxing setting. The staff were friendly and helpful. Also, while not specific to the hotel, the local guide to whom the hotel referred us to for a walking tour, Mr Chirath De Silva, was outstanding.

We can't think of anything to criticise, although it could be said that all these good things come at a price point which is high by Sri Lankan standards (but so do a number of other things within the fort).

This is a superb, luxurious, boutique hotel. The room was stunning and the pool was warm and inviting. Staff were incredibly helpful and the breakfast was delicious. The bar serves a range of interesting Areack based cocktails and the location is in the centre of the old Fort.

Hotel meraviglioso, ricavato da una antica dimora di epoca coloniale, finemente ristrutturata e curata in ogni dettaglio. Camera molto ampia, altrettanto la sala da bagno, letto comodissimo, pulizia top e aria condizionata perfetta. Ci si sente accolti dal momento in cui si varca la soglia dell'hotel, con un ottimo cocktail di benvenuto. Colazione alla carte completa, ricca al punto da non far rimpiangere il buffet. Staff sempre disponibile, attento, premuroso e sorridente. Ottimo anche il cibo del ristorante e il cocktail bar è superlativo, sedetevi a sorseggiare uno dei loro cocktail e non ve ne pentirete. C'è una bella piscina nel giardino interno ma, purtroppo, non abbiamo avuto il tempo per poterci rilassare un'oretta nelle sdraio, dato che abbiamo trascorso una sola notte in quello che posso definire tra i due hotel più belli dove abbiamo soggiornato durante la nostra permanenza in Sri Lanka e volevamo girare la cittadina e andare a Weligama. Una menzione per la gentilezza del manager che, avendo noi l'aereo la notte tardi per rientrare in Italia, ci ha dato gratuitamente la disponibilità di un'altra bellissima stanza per poter fare una doccia e cambiarci prima di prendere il taxi per andare in aeroporto. Speriamo di tornare quanto prima a Galle e di poter soggiornare nuovamente in questo hotel. Grazie ancora di tutto, anche della scatola di tè e della crema Spa Ceylon di cui ci avete omaggiato.

La struttura originaria è ben tenuta ed ha un grandissimo fascino. Le stanze sono grandi con arredi d’epoca molto belli.

L’attesa per il check in ampiamente compensata dalla gentilezza all’arrivo e dai drink offerti nell’attesa.

The Galle Fort hotel is a beautiful heritage boutique property that is exceptional in it’s architecture, ambience and services. I stayed here with my family and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast here. Would definitely love to visit again.
