The Hotel itself was okay although not worth the price we paid. The area around the hotel was not very pleasant and did not feel very safe. A lot of greedy people who were only about to scam you and rip your money out of your pocket.

My experience with this booking was extremely disappointing. Although my reservation clearly stated “Pay at the property”, my credit card was charged in full weeks before arrival without my authorization. Despite providing all evidence multiple times, Booking.com repeatedly ignored the issue, gave contradictory information, and failed to follow through on promised callbacks or resolutions. On top of the unauthorized charge, I also had to cover foreign transaction fees caused entirely by their mistake. After months of back-and-forth, Booking.com still has not provided a proper explanation or refund. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but this case has shown a shocking lack of accountability, transparency, and customer care. I can no longer trust the platform and will avoid using it in the future.

The property was breathtaking, the staff were very hospitable and kind, the continuous change in dinner buffets was perfect.

It was too far from main areas - Nungwi, Paje The sea wasn’t clean The cleanliness of the bed duvet & towels wasn’t always 100%. Twice we found minor stains and we forgot to mention it to the hotel as it would always be at night.

We just got back from an absolutely dreamy eight nights at Melia Zanzibar, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a postcard of turquoise waters and swaying palms. Nestled on a sprawling 40-acre estate along Kiwengwa’s stunning white-sand beach—stretching a full 300 meters— this place is pure Zanzibar magic. The moment I arrived, the warm ocean breeze and those pearlescent sands had me hooked. Our ocean-view room was a cozy haven: spacious, spotless, with a rainfall shower that could rival any spa back home, and a private balcony where I’d sip morning coffee watching dhows glide by. The resort’s vibe is effortlessly luxurious without being stuffy—think three infinity pools that blend right into the horizon, a top-notch spa where I melted into a beachside massage, and even a tennis court for those active mornings (though the beach won out every time). Dining was a highlight; with seven spots to choose from, I devoured fresh seafood at the Jetty (pro tip: sunset dinners there are unbeatable) and couldn’t get enough of the all-day breakfast spreads loaded with tropical fruits and Zanzibari spices. Vegetarian options were solid too, even if variety could edge up a notch. But what truly elevated the trip? The staff—warm, intuitive, and genuinely joyful. A huge shoutout to Gideon Lameck and Neema Mroso; they looked after us so wonderfully throughout our stay. Gideon, with his infectious laugh, was always attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, while Neema made every meal feel personal, remembering our drink preferences and even surprising us with a complimentary spice-infused mocktail. Their kindness and energy made the whole experience feel like being cared for by friends in paradise. If you’re craving sun-soaked relaxation with that extra touch of heart, Melia Zanzibar is your spot. Can’t wait to return! 🌴

What I really loved about the hotel was the incredibly beautiful territory. There was this amazing sense of space — a feeling that no one is watching you or hovering around. You’re completely on your own, without any intrusive staff, and everything is just beautifully arranged and impeccably clean. The place itself is stunning. The room was absolutely fantastic — clearly new, with a huge bathroom that had both a bathtub and a separate shower, which was a real advantage. A terrace opening onto lush greenery created the perfect spot to relax, unwind, and simply enjoy the moment. This effortless, easy atmosphere throughout the hotel gave me a profound sense of freedom and a truly complete vacation.

What didn’t I like? The menu felt quite limited. At breakfast, the chefs often couldn’t prepare a simple omelet or even a coffee, despite the hotel being far from full. I had to wait around 15 minutes because the girl taking orders would simply forget about them. There were no yogurts, the fruit ran out very quickly, and overall it felt as if there wasn’t enough food even for a basic breakfast. Dinner wasn’t very impressive either; it genuinely seemed like the hotel was missing a proper chef who could elevate the dining experience and make the food more flavorful and varied. Even if the hotel wants to avoid wasting ingredients, they could easily set up live-cooking stations instead of pre-plated dishes—this always works better. There were practically no additional restaurants on the property: technically there was one, but we never managed to get in. Overall, the food felt bland and insufficient. We booked breakfast and dinner, and after the price reduction it turned out that the total cost became even higher than if we had originally chosen the all-inclusive option.
