Pierre & Vacances Premium Arc 1950 Le Village

The apartment was beautiful, well equipped and spacious with a view of Mont Blanc.The staff did everything possible to meet our needs and to make it an excellent stay.

Great stay - good location and very roomy. Only criticisms: flat could have been cleaner when we arrived (not too bad - just some dust) and kitchen area was a bit small / badly laid out.

August 2013 we had 2 rooms both 2 bed apartments with furnished balcony and kitchens. Really comfortable and well appointed in a superb location with stunning scenery all around and the village setting and facilities are great. This is a fantastic facility I'm sure in the winter, and it has lots to offer in the summer we will return I'm sure. Only problem we incurred was finding someone at check in as the car park is vast and a little confusing at first. But once found the staff were great and we were soon issued a map of the resort that made life easy,

Good: Well laid out rooms, quite spacious. Decor is fine but feels more four than five star. Hotel is very well situated and you really can ski in and out. Bad: The hotel needs to provide some information on arrival e.g. where to get a lift pass, where to hire skis, where the restaurant is, whether it serves breakfast, how much that costs and whether it is included. The hotel is a total maze and the signage isn't great.

The hotel was well situated for the ski slopes. It was well maintained and the rooms were very comfortable. The supply of quality towels and bath robes made a big difference.

We have stayed here before and, like last time, the accommodation is very good quality. However the wifi service was terrible and this appears not to be a short term problem. The reception staff did not seem to know what the problem was or when it would be resolved but the resort manager eventually explained that there is simply not enough capacity for the amount of people trying to use it. Although I was on holiday I needed to work online 1-2 hours per day. I could not get a wifi connection at all for the first 4 days and it was virtually unusable for the rest of the week. It took ages to get connected and then the connection would drop out after just a few minutes. They reception staff suggested I used one of the 3 hard-wired computers in their Business Centre but when I got there I found there was only one computer and it had no internet connection either. If you are relying on a decent internet connection I would certainly recommend checking whether the problem has been resolved yet.

Two of us shared a comfortable Superior apartment within this Residence - I suspect four sharing, making use of the Lounge sofa bed, would have been fairly cramped. The different levels of this slope-side building were relatively confusing and better signage within would be useful. 1950 offered good access to the slopes and, together with 2000, sufficient restaurants for a week's visit. Don't go to 1950 if you are looking for apres ski and night-life.

Although Arcs 1950 is classed as a 'new build' resort - you would hardly notice as it has been built to a traditional style and is much better for it - so you have the ski in and out experience without sacrificing aesthetics as some other newer build resorts have done. You will pay slightly more for staying here compared with the other Arcs resorts but the quality of the hotels, local restaurants and the village means that it is worth the extra for the comfort and convenience. This is not a huge apres-ski area - the bars seemed to clear by 9pm and most of the night life centred around the restaurants and eating out - so this will put off younger crowds but not families. The only mild comment I could make is that the signs for parking off the main road were not that clear (carried on to Arcs 2000 on the first attempt) and there is no local on-road parking available so you are all but obliged to park in the car park that the village is built on which is an additional cost - best tip is to get a week pass from the office if you need to come and go from the resort or the daily charges will mount. But overall - a great place to ski and a great place to stay - if you have the funds then definitely recommend it.

Arc 1950 is a great place to stay - small resort with doorstep skiing and a reasonable number or restaurants. The much larger Arc 2000 is a just a short free cable car ride away. Radisson Blu was fine. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment in the Chalet de Lys which was perfect for two people. The kitchen area was well equipped and perfect for breakfast. Rest of room was equally good - comfy, clean and a great view. Spa facilities were good after a day skiing and we found outdoor pool and spa bath to be a comfortable temperature. Didn't have any problems checking in or out but the traffic through Bourg was pretty bad in and downright dreadful out on a Saturday. All round a great place to stay in a great location for skiiing.
