Great trip made better by the service of Abbie in the bar and restaurant. We did have a slight issue however Chris, the night manager sorted it straight away - so was not an issue!!

Fantastic staff, excellent service from Abbi, Chris(nights) and all the other staff. Will visit again!

Played 18 holes today and safe to say it’s one of the best courses i’ve played in a long time. Also spoke to the head greenkeeper Charlie on my way out and he was very welcoming. Had a good chat about the course with him. I think him and the team are doing a brilliant job of the course as it looked spectacular.

I have been to many McDonald’s hotels over a number of years. We use them annually for golf trips. This is by the far the worst Hotel I have ever been to. If i could have given it 0 stars I would have done .A number of issues which included brown stains on the toilet seat when we arrived! Not sure what the stain was as I felt sick and immediately reported it to the reception. Absolutely disgusting! The room was dirty and definitely needed a deep clean. The self service buffet wasn’t self service as we had to wait for a member of staff to attend. There is definitely lack of staff as the service albeit polite was poor and regularly had to wait for drinks at the bar and food . We had breakfast in the conservatory sitting at a table and chairs which was blocking the fire exit. The conservatory roof was full of debris and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. I did ask for the manager to voice my complaints but unfortunately he wasn’t in for two days. To be fair he did e Mail once he returned from his days off . He offered me a free night bed and breakfast and 25% off a round of golf. I declined mainly due to the fact of my poor experience but also because the hotel is approximately a 4 hour round trip me and wasn’t worth the long travel. I have advised the hotel manager that this is not about compensation I have since ready many reviews on the trip advisor website there is a common theme. Lack of cleanliness and service. If you look carefully at the responses from the Senior Managers going back AT LEAST 12 months the reply is usually the same. “ I have shared your feedback with the relevant teams” Maybe it’s about time action was taken rather than sharing the issues.

We recently stayed at Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa ready for a charity event the following day and overall had an enjoyable visit. The hotel is set in lovely surroundings with great views, quiet room and the gardens and grounds were very well maintained. The facilities were good, staff were kind and patient and the location made for a relaxing break. Our room was comfortable, although it could have been cleaner as we noticed some dust in places. The only real issue we encountered was that the bar was cashless, which caused a small inconvenience, particularly with children who had brought cash to spend during the stay. Despite these minor issues, we enjoyed our visit and appreciated the beautiful setting and well-kept grounds. With a little more attention to room cleanliness, the experience would have been even better.
