Hampton Inn and Suites are among my favorite Hilton properties to stay. This time, I was disappointed with several things. As soon as we checked into our room, I had to contact the housekeeping staff because the bedside table had fresh coffee stains which were missed during the previous room cleaning. There should have been absolutely no way to miss these coffee rings on a white table. The bathroom area is next on my list of maintenance issues. The toilet seat would not stay up to be able to accommodate someone standing up to urinate. The shower/tub was, in my opinion, in need of updating or replacing because the shower stem wouldn’t fully engage, so the water was coming out from above and below with slow draining. Did I ask the front desk for assistance or a room change? No, I did not because I was in town for a funeral and did not want to waste time dealing with these things. My focus was on comforting my wife in her time of grief. On to the last issue. We were out for the day and expected to return to our room with a full clean, like it was check in day. Well, we were thoroughly disappointed, as the bed covers were somewhat rumpled with the extra blanket neither folded nor neatly placed. The ironing board and iron were sitting where we left it in the middle of the room instead of placed back where it would usually be housed. As a frequent traveler, I expected a Hilton property to represent a much higher standard and attention to detail. I now have to search for alternative accommodations when I search for a hotel. I will still search for Hilton properties, but I will also look at Marriott.
