I am a cyclist and the location was excellent to use a a home base. Portimao is a smaller town compared to Lagos and enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. We had a private room with bathroom and met all our needs perfectly. The Hostel is in a great part of town centrally located so did not feel isolated. The main entrance was on a tiled pedestrian only street with many other store fronts. Their restaurant area is fantastic and can sit out on the main street in front of the hostel in a sectioned off area to enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast and people watch; the locals going to work etc….

Parking could have been an issue in a busy time of year. We were there mid Oct and found a free parking lot less than 1 min from the hostel. Maybe they could have coordinated parking for their guests as it can/could a be a stress point for some.

Tiny shower room. I'm slim and have to stand in the shower to close the door to the bathroom. Very noisy and can here the next room pee from the next room beside your head when you're in your bed. A bit of sound proofing would be great
