Mercure Northampton

Hotel was clean and comfortable.

Cashless so had to put everything on a card. Prior to visit they advised no food but were serving when I arrived.

Nice comfy room and bed

Breakfast was a bit cold

I have never experienced service as bad as we did at this hotel.... other than when our company booked us here 12 months ago!!!! 1st plate came out on a table of 10 and nothing for 10 minutes. 30 minutes between the 1st and last plate. 2 plates missing, food incorrect when it arrived. Then despite me approaching them some 90 minutes after sitting down still no one came to clear our plates away so we could order desserts.... then they took 20 minutes to try and work out if all meals were covered by our company and at the time I am writing this review they are still scratching their heads..... asked for a coke, said they did Pepsi and then brought a poretti..... then walked away when I challenged it. I honestly can't express how shambolic the running of this hotel is and many of the team were here 12 months ago so literally nothing has improved in a year. If anything it got worse!!! Offered advice on what dish was gluten free with a substitute on the bread only to be told when bringing out the dish sorry we haven't got any gluten bread so I've brought it without....a steak knife that was more like a butter knife. The evening was hilarious but for all the wrong reasons I'm afraid.

The staff were warm and friendly- fast check in and very clean facilities.

The location is an ideal base for exploring what Northampton has to offer. I originally come from Northampton so my trip was not for exploring and I am familiar with the hotel. Breakfast was very good and decent price £12. Staff all very friendly.

Not much not to like, bed is massive and very comfy, carpet possibly could do with a clean, it smelt a bit but that's the only negative comment
