Hotel Tugu Bali, Canggu

I’m so torn on my review of this property. The staff was so lovely. It is so very close to the beach, and shops. But, I chose this hotel based on other reviews about how it is a sanctuary in the middle of Canggu. I could not disagree more. Fireworks going off right outside my villa every night. Loud nonstop music from the beach clubs every night. This is not the fault of the hotel, I’m just shocked that other guests left reviews about the serenity of the hotel, when it is not that. If I was 20 years younger, it would have been great. The villa is large, and breakfast is beyond awesome, the staff is so sweet. The spa was not my favorite, but it was just ok. The bathtub could have been much cleaner, but the room was spotless. I loved the fish in the entrance to my room. The dances they had one evening in the lobby was wonderful. For sure a mixed bag here for me.

The people make this place. I couldn’t asked for more smiles or friendliness from every single person I came across. Over and above every time.

It felt authentic. Noisy at nights but location close to everything.

Management was lacking. Really nice receptionists but they had to ask everything to ‘the manager’, but the manager was nowhere to be seen, may have been a ghost. Managing issues all around, for instance there’s a beautiful pool but when I got thirsty hanging out at the pool, the staff sent me to the upstairs restaurant to get a glass of water in my bikini…
