Mount Holyoke Inn

Room 104 smelled strongly of mildew/mold. Only one window had a screen and it could only be opened a few inches so no way to air the room out. Nonrefundable reservation and it was past 10pm so we decided to leave, eat the cost, and book a different motel (Red Roof in Enfield, which was solid).

The location is kind of nice because there is a lake or pond view across the street...

I got to Mt. Holyoke Inn on Monday late afternoon, and the first room they gave me immediately smelled strongly of mildew. I was tired from my drive and opened a window in hopes it would air out the room so I could breathe properly. During that night, I was unable to sleep because the smell was so strong, even with the window open. I was getting sinus issues and headaches that would not go away. The next day, I left for work and messaged the property about my experience and requested a new room. When I got back around 4:30 pm, they agreed to a room exchange, and I changed rooms. This room did smell a lot less strongly of mildew than my first room, but it was still there. I noticed they had the window open before I got in, to hopefully air out the smell before I got in. I kept the window open despite how cold the nights were because the smell was still there. Not only did I struggle with this smell and the health effects it gave me, but there was rotten food in the fridge in the new room, as well as their toilet would run and also randomly make a loud squealing noise that would wake me up every hour. Their wifi is terrible and cuts in and out randomly, almost every 30 minutes, so doing work is impossible. Overall, this was the worst hotel experience I've had in my entire life, and it was not worth $300.

The location and the price and the staff was very educated and professional.

It is a very good value. My room was very clean and so was the bathroom. That really puts my mind at ease. I found the staff very friendly, warm and courteous. It is right next to a beautiful body of water. It was a peaceful stay and very good deal compared to all the other prices out there.

Check-in was quick and easy, the staff was very sweet, the view of the lake is amazing! Others mentioned smells - that's just curry or something from staff in the front office, and doesn't filter to the rooms at all. I barely noticed it, only did because of other reviews that made me look for it. The bathroom had some cosmetic work being done that did not affect my stay. Very very clean, and I will be staying again! I work in luxury events and boutique hotels - stay here!

Clean, bathroom recently renovated and cheerful. Spacious room, which worked very well for us. We were on a college move-in trip and needed space for boxes, bags and a bike. Large windows with river view.

Pillows were brick-like and gave me a headache. Room was very dated and dark, with unraveling carpet. Towel bar in the (renovated) bathroom was unusable because it was ripped out of the wall, and someone had tried to fix it with toilet paper(!). No coffee maker, which we knew before arriving, and we brought a water kettle.
